Our purpose as an organization is to assist students from poor backgrounds convicted of felony by giving them knowledge on how 3D printing technology and AUTOCAD has affected the medical field. The disruptive impact of this technology is on tissue, bone, and organ replacement, which are bio-printed. In many instances, these convicted felons are injured while in correctional facilities and due to the lack of funds due to their poor backgrounds, LITTLE Engineers aim at improving the quality of life of such students in correspondence to CCPH aims by restoring their health. The drastic positive shift of this technology influences business, society, and government. We plan to collaborate with other organizations like the Federal Bonding Program, Work Opportunity Tax Credit, and Workforce Investment Act (WIA) that look into the welfare of such students including the University of Houston Graduate College, which will further the skills of the convicted felons. METHODS: The Work Opportunity Tax Credit and Federal Bonding Program help us manage our foundation with the local Houston community center. A family oriented approach incorporated in the rehabilitation process of the convicted felons. As a result, our program has a limited number of individuals, which leaves the convicted felons feeling like a family and embrace the new technologies that build their self-esteem and restores their health. Moreover, the training curriculum incorporated in the program is healthy in terms of preventing the felons from engaging in illegal activities. We have an on-the-job-training environment for technology, information, and training for customer skills. OBJECTIVE: In Houston, the number of convicted felons is rising and is affecting the development of Houston and other major Texas cities. There are programs offered by Houston and Texas governments, but they are not able to accommodate the rising numbers of convicted felons. As a result, our program plans to reach out to 100 students and give them a chance to reach their dreams by restoring their lives and that of their other convicts. The collaborative effort of employees and staff personnel has seen the convicts benefit from the information and skills impacted and offered by LITTLE Engineers. These convicts are the future leaders and as an organization, we have seen the need to advocate for promoting hard work, commitment, and embracing of new technology in the society. The work ethic and dedication they learn from LITTLE Engineers will help them learn and utilize the knowledge for the rest of their lives. As a result, the lives of both college students and the community will be changed forever. LITTLE Engineers Overview The rise of immoral behavior is a factor that has contributed to the rise of school dropouts in major cities and towns (Marchevsky and Theoharis ). The Federal Bonding Program, Work Opportunity Tax Credit, and Workforce Investment Act (WIA) has been able to team up with the LITTLE Engineers in overseeing the activities of community building through healthy living education workshops. LITTLE Engineers are aware of the need to familiarize students with the technological systems in the medical field and have formed partnerships with other organizations to give rehabilitation services to be able to succeed in the current work environment. Background Convicted felons in the United States have increased at an alarming rate that has brought the attention of many organizations because the health of young people is in jeopardy. It is estimated to be 73, 985 as at 2011 and the number is still increasing due to their exposure. Many of the youths are exposed to immoral behavior at a very tender age and this insight prompted us to start an organization that looks into their health as future leaders with the realization of modern technology that affects their lives in a positive way to promote their health. According to collected statistics, Blacks in prisons totaled to 14, 213 in 2011, while the White population were 13, 298, and the Hispanic were 16, 674. This variation in numbers indicates that the less privileged members of the society need guidance and education in order to enable them reach out to their goals and potential. At the same time, they will be able to utilize the resources available to tap into their talent and make use of their knowledge, skills, and experiences in the modern times of technology empowerment. LITTLE Engineers come in handy to ensure that these convicted felons do not go back to the streets and commit the same offenses. We intend to form a big network that looks into protecting the felons through establishment of satellite locations round the State to be able to offer help to the many felons who are wasting their lives away in the Texas. State Of Problem Research shows how the sprawling number of convicted felons in the state of Texas leads to drug abuse and other substances that affect their health. Majority of the convicted felons engage in drug abuse, this has affected their lungs, and other body parts due to injuries inflicted while under the influence of drugs and other substances. In addition, while in prison they get into fights and many come out without their limbs and hands, but LITTLE Engineers have found a solution to all their problems. 3D printing uses AUTOCAD software that does body scans that generate custom organ model designs for bio printing. 3D printing in the medical field is a new dimension of incumbent manufacturer printers that has brought new opportunities for niche players like LITTLE Engineers. LITTLE Engineers want to print human organs in advance and use them for emergencies (Lothar et al. 848). Plan, Method, and Schedule The CCHP award is a non-profit organization that will provide funds to LITTLE Engineers in order to make a difference in the lives of the many young convicted felons in the state of Texas and the country as a whole. The funds will be used intelligently in accordance to the budget of the convicted felons in science perspectives in the ecosystem that is growing rapidly. According to the Community-Campus Partnerships for Health aim in having a community that is healthy and educated thus, are able to overcome the existing obstacles and complexities present in the society. As a result, our program partnership as LITTLE Engineers in the science perspective pertains to the program partnership that astute to promote the health of young people convicted of felon in the community. By passing the 3D technology and AUTOCAD software knowledge to the young felons, gives them an upper hand in handling the numerous technological ground and basis for future use in complex situations. The endeavor we intent to take is broad, but we would like to start a program that is modest and hope to grow and prosper in years, months, and weeks to come. The plan we have developed as a start-up of LITTLE Engineers is as follows: Premise: Funding from CCHP will enable LITTLE ENGINEERS work in partnership with Federal Bonding Program, Work Opportunity Tax Credit, and Workforce Investment Act (WIA) that look into the welfare of such students including the University of Houston Graduate College, which will further the skills of the convicted felons by training and impacting knowledge. LITTLE Engineers target audience ages 15-25 convicted felons from Texas since the age groups have a great chance of returning to a healthy and productive lifestyle, which is beneficiary to the organization. In the later stages of the planning stages a needs assessment plan is conducted with the help of the Research and Development Department of Houston University, which will be in form of a questionnaire. This will help ascertain the type of specific skills required for employees and thus attain organizational goals, objectives, and mission. In the planning stage, we have found various locations and their advantage is their proximity to programs handling convicted felons. However, they need renovations that will be done for approximately three to four months. The cost range estimated for the yet-to-be identified building is $150,000 to $250,000. The plans are specific, but vary with location though all of them include two laboratories for the machines, at least two classrooms, a commercial sized kitchen, two offices with equipped furniture, machines, and other accessories. Furthermore, ten apartments will be included in the building to accommodate the students and will have a single sized bed and dresser. The other amenities like bathroom and television room will be a common room to promote socialization and exchange of ideas and experiences, which is part of the training and rehabilitation process of LITTLE Engineers. Prior to action, we will coordinate with the organizations we are collaborating with to come up with a plan that distinguishes the students incorporated by LITTLE Engineers program. The programs we are collaborating with are well conversant with these convicted felons and will guide and counsel us on the performance of these candidates based on their past. In future, this method is likely to change considering the counselors input and outreach experiences since we want to make the most difference in the community and society. If awarded the CCHP award, our program will commence after 5 months, but all initial tasks will be commenced within 2 months of award receipt. During month 1 we will: Engage in facility leasing and receive estimates for the appropriate renovations Plan coordination with the listed programs in reference to eligible candidates Personnel recruitment Month 2 will entail: Start on the renovations of the building Evaluation of employer skills Organization of lecture notes and layout Feasibility LITTLE Engineers is a viable program that needs to be supported because 3D printing technology and AUTOCAD are upcoming forms of technologies embraced by many in the medical field (Marchevsky and Theoharis, 240). The zeal bestowed in us by the need to help other students and community members has led us to formulate this program and want it implemented because it can run for the next hundred years with technological advancement and embracement. Staffing Three retired CAN have volunteered to be full time staff for minimal salary and Mr. Peter Mathews will be the head of all projects. Mr. Mac Anthony and Mrs. LilyBeth Harley will be Project Managers hence, lead the other staff members and volunteers. Responsibilities Peter Mathews Liaise with field and administrative teams Design construction and plan layout Ensure that all ordered material are on site prior to the start of the project Mac Anthony and LilyBeth Harley Oversee project progression and lead projects Work with Peter Mathews and volunteers Projects need to be completed on time and according to the budget Ensure that all regulations and safety rules are met by all members Volunteers Integrity promotion Project Managers instructions are to be followed strictly Prior to leaving the project, clean-up of lab equipment should be complete Administrative Team The Dean of Student Affairs University of Houston will head the team followed by the Chairman of UH of Information and Technology and his assistant. Thirty undergraduate volunteers will be included from UH R&D and other engineers have promised to offer their counsel and expertise. This counsel helps in underlying tensions and stress loads that build up when undertaking such projects. Andrew a mechanic has volunteered to service all equipment, while Geoffrey has offered to write the technical parts. The administrative team consists of three employees who will receive $40,000 each per year. The materials budget is estimated at $300,000. Our determination comes in helping the underprivileged members of the society strive in their academic life and access higher education. Through LITTLE Engineers, the inspirations of convicted student felons will be of benefit to their families by creating an environment that caters for the needs of injured members of the community. Our belief in the project will benefit the students and community by increasing their interest in learning and technology advancement. Furthermore, the program incentive aims to restore the health of the convicted felons by giving them a second chance in life with new organs that are functioning.
