• As you examine the current political, social, and economic environment of your country and the world as of the moment you are reading the text, what is your estimate of the extent to which globalization will increase or decrease in the short run? In the long run?

It is difficult to estimate the degree to which globalization will decrease or increase in the short run (Stiglitz, 2004). After reading the text, however, there will be no much change on globalization in the short run. The text explains the resistance or acceptance of globalization as a back and forth-moving pendulum. Therefore, it is in the long run, that we can experience more globalization (Hirst, Thompson, & Bromley, 2015). That being said, it is important to acknowledge the fact that long-term trends can be reversed (Hirst et al., 2015). Therefore, we cannot dismiss varying opinions that there may or may not be hindrances to globalization in the future.
