Google Glass is one of the most revolutionary products of the current century. It is a major breakthrough in the modern technological world of today and is years ahead and far more advanced than smart phones. While using similar features that are used in most of the latest smart phones like the iPhone or Samsung S3, Google Glass is a pair of glasses that features a heads up display which has a 720p camera built into it along with a microphone and an earpiece. It is the next leap into the world of hands free communication. Thus with the Google Glass, Google brings the augmented fantasy from science fiction novels and movies into reality much sooner than previously perceived and expected. Google glass which is a pair of glasses is an integrated series of processors, sensors and communication devices helps the user to connect with others in societies and at public places. It provides instantaneous information and records events. Google Glass clearly indicates where the future of mobile computing seems to be heading. High-tech wearable computers like Google Glass are bound to alter and perk up our lives whether it is related to education, shopping, business or navigation. Google Glass improves functions which are already offered by smart phones and tablets like business online conferences, navigation and connecting to social networks. Google glass has a huge advantage over many other devices that it creates a hands-free occurrence that is more normal as it can be worn rather carried (Karman, et al., 2011, pp. 1-9). Google Glass is the revolutionary high-tech advancement hosted by the search giant, Google. It seems like a pair of spectacles containing built in display, camera, touch pad, microphone, and battery while functioning merely like a smartphone. Devoid of any physical touch, the user can take stills, videos nigh on by seeing what a user can see, even sending a text is hands-free requiring a user’s voice instructions. Although it has brought a revolutionary change in the communication world but it poses many social rebels too (Google Inc., 2013). Google glass has offered many benefits regarding its usage and communication advances. The product is light weight, smart and easy to carry that makes its use much guileless and comfortable. It is mounted on the head that does not oblige a user to keep it on or off the pocket like in case of smartphone. Taking pictures and videos was never that much easy as it happens in Google glass, a user just need to wink or say it. Moreover, its exterior camera is also featured for making interfaces to the real world through understanding faces and recognizing maps more than just capturing snaps and videos. It cannot only sense the voice commands of user but also the eyelid actions and can react accordingly. In addition to this, it can also understand a user’s gestures through swapping and tapping (Choudhury, 2013). Google glass has supplanted the main utility of smartphones as users can send or receive text messages, emails or make phone calls without physical intervention through saying instructions. There is no requirement of Bluetooth or camera when the glass is on and it will deliver the user with comprehensive and reasonable replies to any question on the spot. It will keep on apprising all the calendar entries, upcoming events, contacts and other information required by user. While on a journey, it will provide excellent navigation and can have access to map for proper guidance that means wearing this no one can be lost (Bhowmick, 2013). Google Glass is such a device with 16GB of memory that memorizes the map reading outcomes and all the dealings of the user, a user can retrieve that information any time when required. It offers high speed data linkages that aids in internet surfing efficiently. It has a crystal like clear display screen that is seen through a little glass and gives a user the real screen experience (Piercy, 2012). Most valid benefit is that users can do multiple tasks while wearing this glass, it does not interrupt anything. It was mistaken that may be it will hinder the ordinary visualization of a user but it is actually attached in a way having a miniscule display screen on the upper right side of the eyes that does not put anything ahead of the eyes. A user is more up-to-dated with advertisements and alarms with just a small vibration feeling that is harsh in smartphones (Pogue, 2013). Moreover, Google glass has some healthcare advantages while using these glasses in clinical setups. According to a study, it is worthwhile for capturing photos and videos without a touch to know the patients' situations, for finding the billing passcodes and surfing for unacquainted medical terminologies or disorders. These features gives a big hand to the use of glass in medical surroundings. Having a mission to potentially touch and move thousands of lives from within is a target set by only the most radical of innovators. Google Glass is proof of the ‘Think big but start small’ pillar of innovation which has been used by Google to their advantage and they have created a product that will help millions of individuals of the world. When they first started the Google Glass project many said this plan was too ambitious and reaching their set targets was extremely farfetched. However the hard working people at Google rolled up their sleeves and worked tirelessly day in and day out to get somewhere and when their relentless efforts in the end bore fruits (Dalal, 2011). Although Google glass poses many benefits to its users but there are many key arguments against this innovative high-tech device. Foremost, it is too expensive of about 1500$ that is huge amount for an average person to avail such techno product. The product design is also being dubious because it gives a nerdy look that make the users a geek, and they look weird while looking upward sitting among crowd of people (Marks, 2014). Major drawback of the Google glass being buzz among people is the privacy issue that may result in case of mistreatment of the product. Glass containing a camera that does not give any signal while making a picture or a video, so this could be misused. Anyone having private chat or going towards anywhere would be captured by strangers and they may publish it to the web that could make it a secreted cam catching unwilling subject (Bhowmick, 2013). Privacy is also subjugated in other ways like such glass can retrieve the user’s sub-conscious. Mobile phones gives users a conscious decision-making sense while using it. On the other hand, Glass function by detecting eyelid movements that helps it to demand information about where a user is looking. So this gadget accumulates the data devoid of the permission of user. A human’s eye activities are mostly sub-conscious and they present some hidden psychosomatic connotations. For instance, these movements express about the things a user is being fascinated to and the way users contemplate purchase decisions during shopping. Thus it will start gathering, transferring and unloading the data that a user may never consider to get and in this way user can lose the hegemony over the information to be shared. And Google is known to be an advertising company so this product suggests an idea of getting paid for everything a user is watching over (Katikala, 2013). Moreover, user’s information can be used by police department who are taking into account all the arithmetical info to catch crooks or hotspot places of crime for prevention formerly the crime occur. The data collected by police from a user’s eye could be misleading and the user can be convicted of any false charges. In addition to this, such glasses can capture the numbers of other peoples’ credit cards, pin codes and can know about home addresses and cell phone numbers that could lead to robbery or theft (Katikala, 2013). Apart from privacy concern, Google glass can profess another menace that it could get a user sidetracked from where he was or what he was doing. Most of the time people do texting or calls during driving or walking on the road. So by utilizing this glass, users can’t embark their eyes and then they may fall away on the road or there may happen any calamity. Another downside is that the device does not have good battery timing that survives only for four to five hours if used properly in video conferencing or other. As it is controlled by the vocal sound of the person so a user cannot use it in the quieter places like hospitals, during meetings, and libraries and in addition to this, others can be able to know about all text messages and emails a user is sending (Lee, 2014). Google glass may bring some health problems that are not properly described in the product description. It is a major issue that Google must ponder on. Continuously wearing that glass may cause bad health effects over retina of user’s eye in the long term. The glass containing an energy source or battery over cerebellum all the time can harm a user’s brain functioning (Choudhury, 2013). Despite of the shortcomings of the product, there are some other teething troubles for company. At the outset, Google must target professionals for such high tech product rather than ordinary consumers. It must collaborate with different companies and must have added some business applications for them. Furthermore, it can help many other professionals for instance, anyone driving truck, taxi, airplane or trains could better use its efficient and innocuous navigation application or anyone operating a machine can get the detailed information about the process (Marks, 2014). Lastly, many foundations are going to ban the use of Google glass because of the drawbacks it professes. Bars and clubs has already proscribed it and many business ventures are also undertaking the same banishment for the coziness of their clients and sponsors that will not be promising otherwise (Choudhury, 2013). In conclusion, if you compare the Google Glass to some of the best smartphones that Google has to offer, the Google Glass is far more advanced, easier to use while posing no threat to its user in any way shape or form. A smartphone or a phone for that matter never really becomes one with a person and it is the individuals that rely on their phones rather than the other way around as it is supposed to, technology and gadgets were made to make everyday living easier for the common man however even though smartphones have bridged that gap certainly, there is still a lot of room for making amends. The Google Glass however, may just be the right tool that not only fixes that void but offers numerous new possibilities all the while making life easier. Though, there are certain issues also associated with this technology like any other technology but its advantages compensate these issues in a better way.
