EMPLOYMENT COMMUNICATION PORTFOLIO Report Student’s Name Instructor’s Name Course Title Date 12 University Way Sydney NSW 2534 0406155234 makalio@yahoo.com To Human Resource Manager, Savills, hr@savills.com.au Dear Sir/Madam, Ref: APPLICATION FOR THE POSITION OF A TEAM COORDINATOR - RESIDENTIAL SALES This letter is to express my interest in the above named position, following an advertisement that you put in the media detailing the requirements for the post. This opportunity is of great interest to me as I have great interest in the real estate market. I hold a Bachelors degree in Sales and Marketing from Macquerie University. During the training my research, analytical and teaching skills were enhanced. My leadership skills and ability to work as a team member was also nurtured. I am particularly suited to do this job because I have a strong attention to detailed and good problem solving skills. This post suits me because I am competent in time management. I am a self motivated person with good interpersonal skills. I do have excellent communication, negotiation and planning skills which were developed and nurtured in school as well as the previous jobs that I have done. I am very passionate about sales and marketing and I enjoy seeing and experiencing growth in the companies that I work for. Before I joined the real estate industry, I had been working with the Royal Automobile association as a sales manager in the Sydney Metropolitan area. I was a member of a team that managed to increase the sales by a remarkable twenty percent within a two year period. I was praised by my boss for being organized and committed to my work. I look forward to join your team so that I can be able to grow and learn from your experience in real estate. It's my sincere hope that you will respond positively to my application, at your own convenience. NB: Please find attached a statement and my CV for a detailed account about me. Yours Faithfully, MICHAEL DWIGHT. Statement Addressing Selection Criteria  Strong written and verbal communication skills My strong written and verbal communication skills were first demonstrated when I was the editor of the Macquarie Business Weekly. My tasks included conducting interviews for the feature articles and interviewing guests for the publication and to write the feature articles and interviews in an attractive format. I managed to write many articles during my time as an editor, making sure that I communicated the message well which translated into the increase of sales for the publication. My writing and communication ability were also put to the test when I worked as a research assistant for the Vision Critical and the Market Attitude Research Studies Pty/Ltd companies. During the research, I had to make sure that I communicated the purpose of the research and the benefits it would give the marketing and sales personnel if they participated. After completing the field work, I was required to write a report for the whole experience detailing the challenges and other observations not captured in the questionnaire. A proven ability to adapt and learn quickly Before I started to teach students on grammar and related aspects, I had not worked as a tutor before, it was all a new concept to me. I had to learn fast and adapt quickly to the new environment so that I could be able to balance both my work and studies. I had to learn teaching methodologies and be able to utilize them well as I coached the students to enhance their understanding. The final results were that eight of the ten students I was coaching, emerged as the best grammar and language students in their respective schools. Two of them were even granted scholarships based on their language proficiency. Exceptional attention to detail I possess the ability to pay close attention to detail. This was demonstrated when I worked as a Sales Assistant at the Active Sports stores. Being a highly competitive, venture the business demanded that we be a cut above the rest so that we would survive the competition. I was required to assist the clients in choosing appropriate sporting attires for their respective sporting activities. I was also required to plan the display of the new arrivals and the clothing we had so that they could be catchy to the customers. I met all the requirements and the customers reported a satisfaction with the work I had done. The sales increased due to my new display invention that was based on colour, specific games and brands. The customers also found it easier to locate the items they wanted to purchase from the store. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite During my training, it was a requirement that we present typed copies of our class work. This was to be accomplished using the tools in the Microsoft Office Suite. This made me enhance my skills in the usage the Ms Office Suite while I typed the assignments and other course papers that we did in class. I managed to score well in the presentation of my class work. During the time I worked as a research assistant, I was charged with the task of writing reports and making the presentation of the data obtained during the research. I wrote the reports using Microsoft Word, which is one of the tools in Ms Office Suite. In making the presentation, I used Microsoft PowerPoint a tool in the Ms Office Suite that is used for the preparation and making of presentations. The work was recognized by all my supervisors and it was published with only a few changes being introduced in the initial document I had prepared. Sound prioritization and time management skills When working as a tutor I doubled as a student. This called for a lot of time planning and prioritization so that I could be able to cover my class work and at the same time offer good coaching to my students. For this reason, I was able to finish my studies and acquire good grades and at the same time the students performed well in their examinations. Prioritization and time management was also necessary when I worked as an editor of the Macquarie University Business Daily. I had to review the articles that were submitted for publication and make decisions on which ones would be featured and at what page so as to achieve the desired results. Time management was also necessary as I had to organize events to promote the publication and ensure that all articles were handed in at the right time to ensure that the magazine was published in good time. The increase in the number of sales and the sponsorship for the business daily is a clear indication that I was able to prioritize the right articles. During my time as an editor, there were no delays in the publication of the magazine. The ability to work well under pressure My ability to work under pressure was best demonstrated when I worked in the sales department with the Royal Automobile Association. I had a lot of activities that to oversee and each activity was equally demanding. It involved travelling a lot as I had to move around the city and the neighboring towns to make sure that the events we organized were well run and that the marketing activities meet the standards of the organization. I was able to manage all this and did my work as required which was reflected in the increase in sales.
