Therefore, a leader must recognize the influence. With some influence, it is very easy for a leader to get things done. An influential leader may convince people to join their coalition, work harder and respect their group (Lencioni, 2007). To be an efficient leader, it is important to influence others to implement and support decisions that as a leader I perceive are necessary.

Influence can be on things, events, or people. As a leader in the organization, I can utilize three forms of influence to achieve objectives and motivate people. These types of influence include identification, compliance, and internalization. As a leader, I can use compliance influence to make people behave in a way that I expect regardless of whether they agree to do so or not. In an organization set up, I may influence employees to modify their schedules and plans, accept and perform new assignments, discontinue inappropriate behavior, and provide timely and relevant information (Patterson, 2013). Additionally, it is my duty as a leader to influence employees to support and approve managers’ proposals and plans. In a volunteer setting or a community, I may wish to influence the participants to increase their dedication toward an objective, increase pressure to ensure that something is done, gain support for a certain project or affect the result of a decision.

Social learning perception implies that leaders influence their supporters through a modeling process. Modeling is recognized as one of the most powerful means of conveying attitudes, values, and behaviors.  Employees find out what to do or what not to do, by scrutinizing their leaders’ actions. To become an efficient leader with some influence, I must have logical persuasion. Rational persuasion involves presenting facts and arguments, which emphasize the positive benefits of a plan. This method can be effectively used upward, for instance making proposing a plan to the executives.

In conclusion, a leader’s main purpose is to inspire, mediate, decide, and direct. A leader is also mandated to make some influence on his or her followers since with no influence there is no leadership. Influence is the capability to persuade a person to act or think in a manner that you want. A leader uses influence to get things done regardless of whether the followers agree to do so or not. An influential leader may convince people to join their coalition, work harder and respect their group. Leaders use influence to make can their supporters implement and support their projects and plans. In an organization, a leader can influence their employees to modify their schedules and plans, accept and perform new assignments, discontinue inappropriate behavior, and provide timely and relevant information. In the community, a leader influences participants to increase their dedication toward an objective, increases pressure to ensure that something is done, gains support for a certain project, or influences the result of a decision.
