Managing Business Responsibly By Dis s are termed as activities which mainly form the objects of which they discuss or speak. It defines set of meanings, presentations and statements that are combined to come up with a particular event. It presents all available alternatives which surround and object a person or progress of an event (Peters, 2005). An example of a discourse if foxhunting which is brought out as an object. Foxhunting can be represented in two perspectives leading to different discourses. It can be presented as a pest control used as a natural method in management of fox population (Peters, 2005). In the pest control, the discourse majorly aims in keeping the population of fox to a number that can easily be managed. In this perspective, fox hunting is not considered to be immoral but is considered to be the best option that is available for both the humans and fox population. The effectiveness has been tried and approved (Blythe, 2008). Those that carry out conversations about fox hunting can be seen to think it is immoral and they think that if it was not for the discourse used, the population of fox that would be available would be out of control. Fox is seen as a pest for farmers who lose many resources each year due to attack of fox on their livestock. Statements that are made bring about virtues that are used in hunting of the fox. In a different discourse, fox hunting is seen as contravention of basic morality. People from this aspect of view are seen view fox hunting not to be right as they think it denies animals their basic rights. In the view people think that fox have basic right to life just as human beings. In the view the hunting and killing of animals is uncivilized and is unworthy of human beings despite the fox being destructive to farmers (Peters, 2005). Fox hunting have other discourses such as being considered to be an outdoor sport activity that is healthy. It can also be considered to be an event used to pas time by the rich. Discourses are seen to portray objects in different ways with each having a different nature from the next that is thought. Each discourse claim to well describe the object thinking that is the truth. Discourse analysis reveals that it is the study of signifiers. It implicates the social construction of an intervention based on how people tend to view things that naturally occurs around them. An example is given of a team leader reflecting on a talk that he has with his team members about innovation in the state (Craig-Lees, Joy and Browne, 2009). After the discussion, the team leader is able to share opinions that he has with the level of support depicted and other opinions depicting constraints that impact on their work. Interventions are not brought to be only based on one type of discourse but they generate wave effects. As attempts are made to reverse the occurrence in prevailing discourse, other discourse is seen from wave effects that may occur in operations. A discourse that is aimed at moderating existing demands for jobs is likely to generate other discourses of levels of rewards that exist in a team. In the management of a business, Lvesson and Karreman thinks that there should be emphasis on paying much attention to what people think and talk about. Tal is important in making of meaning. The talks are important as they take a kind of flow and gradually unfold in time as the people involved tend to focus in making sense in the conversations (Cowton and Haase, 2008). Discourse is important as it enables approach of intervention as system statements that are produced and also obtained through a process of reasoning aimed at understanding other views of the others. Intervention is therefore a process in which, as we interpret the change situation, we are also enacting and interpreting ourselves. One way to approach intervention would be to construe it as monologic discourse. This is a form of discourse in which engagement becomes less important and in which it is also seen as less important (Cowton and Haase, 2008). Hence, employees do not get involved in the intervention for fear that taking into account what others have to say is likely to complicate matters, making the intervention much more intricate and perhaps more demanding to implement. Other ways that can be used in the approach interventions is as a polyphonic process that is needed in change Important interventions with valuable insights are obtained from contributions such as changing of conceptual language at the levels of discourse, the role of polyphony in in development of different discourses and bringing out awareness of the role of dialog in creation of meaning Discourses are seen to be sentimental due to the speeches and writings that are made. The same words, phrases, pictures and phrases appear in a number of discourses and in each time contribute to a different aspect. In fox hunting, sentimentality of vermin is a word that has been misplaced (Cowton and Haase, 2008). The term indicates that fox hunting has been tested and approved as a pest control. In another disclosure, fox hunting is considered to be a pastime activity of the rich. A discourse about an object is seen to manifest itself in speeches that are made by the people or presented in writing such as through magazines. In an example of clothes, they are seen to bring out class position, gender, age and culture of those that put the clothes and uniforms on. Everything around human beings is considered to be textual (Solomon, 2006). Claim that is made that each discourse is correct, those that are involved in social construction do not deny the existence of the object or material. They only point out that the use of words and how the use depends upon. It also governs the way a topic of discussion may be meaningful talked about and thought (Solomon, 2006). There is also influence on the way ideas are put into practice and used to regulate the conduct that is represented by others. Discourse can be linked to knowledge and power. Knowledge and power is obtained from sharing information and social clear of people making them clear. The relationship brought concern of Foucault. He presented his views on the relationship. Common sense understanding of the relationship that exists between knowledge and power is that knowledge thought to increase the power of an individual (Craig-Lees, Joy and Browne, 2009). An example given is that through knowledge, those that have achieved higher education are able to gain power by getting good jobs and increase in status of an individual. People also have believed that they are subjected to a variety of possible construction and representations. Common sense is a great tendency of truth than the others. Strategic management of businesses considers factors such as competitive arena, the value chain basis and operating environment basis. Competitive arena focuses on structural analysis of the operation environment (Cant Brink and Brijball, 2006). The structural analysis of a business involves looking at main elements that are in the operating environment which enables identification of those elements that are important to be used in the strategies of the business. Structural analysis addresses the attractive aspect of the operating environment of a business. A business will not be the only one carrying out the activities but of the business will also carry out the activities (Cant Brink and Brijball, 2006). Structural analysis of a business will enable better competition in the market. Value chain basis involves the conversion processes that are undertaken by a business in the competition with consideration that the business does not exist on its own. The processes that are undertaken are linked together in a chain referred to as a value chain. The chain starts from the raw, the suppliers until the process is in the competitive arena. Operating environment basis is a combination of value chain and structural analysis of a business. The operating environment basis tends to describe activities and elements that are involved in the analysis and chain of production and distribution until the products reach the consumers. Competitive arena refers to all activities carried out by another business that are involved in satisfaction of similar consumer needs. Competitive arena first involved determination of consumer needs. Complications that develop due to competition by other businesses are due to segmentation in the markets (Blythe, 2008). Segmentations in the market occur when different businesses treat consumers differently. Other considerations that are made are whether potential consumers should also be included in the competition arena. All competition arenas that are available to a business are global from a starting point. Local analysis should not be much considered as it will not compete well in the global market (Cant Brink and Brijball, 2006). Market and intermediate environment involves consideration of perfect competition where there is no differentiation in products, customers have full information, and there is free entry and exit in the market and each business having a small part of all the offers in the market. Rivalry that occurs in the market is due to the market having equal power for all the businesses. References Blythe, J. (2008). Proper management of business for efficient production.
