Bench Making Best Practices Engineering management is one of the biggest sectors in most of the business organizations and even some companies. For most of the companies require the power for production and even the maintenance of machines in some companies of the big companies. Virtually all the engineering disciplines are vital for almost all the business organizations. These ranges from mechanics, electricians to constructors of the physical structures such as the manufacturing rooms. This is enough to bring into our attention how engineering is essential for the growth of any company. It becomes difficult for many engineering managers to make concrete decisions and to have long term solutions which may have the impact to the engineering department in any company. It is very challenging to make a long lasting solution to situations surrounding engineering department in any organization due to rapid development in technological field and also the faster movement of the world market. As a visionary engineer of a company I would make arrangements to see into it that there is competition between engineering and other fields. In order to have my assurance in survival of my company in the future I will have strategies touching on the following: a) Bench making best practices In most cases bench making is done to ensure the advancement in the way things are done in a given company or any business organization. It is of a great essence to note that bench marking is the sole strategies used by most business to draw the forecast and the business plans for the future. Bench marking will call for the comparison of my company with other companies especially on the engineering matters. In most cases I will only approach the best companies for bench mark as they are of greater value. It is of less significance to focus on the engineering facilities housed by small companies. As part of target I will be interested in bench marking keenly on our closest competitors as they are exposed to faster advancement. When bench marking I will look mostly on the service delivery on their engineering team as well as looking on the advancement in technology employed. It is evident that bench marking calls for sampling of the significant attributes seen to be of more benefits but also it should be realized that most companies are not ready to share some of their engineering ideas with others especially the ones they perceive to be their competitors. Therefore, it is of much value if in my bench marking process I involve samples from different companies pertaining to their engineering practices then I put them together to see changes. Some of the advancements such as the use of computers to inspect the disconnected cables and even inspection of mechanical problems in cars are of much importance as it is less time wasting and very precise in fact it is of less labor intensive and more of accuracy. Many a times I see people involved with carrying out task yet they don’t deliver because of inaccuracy. The major reason for the process of bench marking is to see into it that there is an interrelationship between the internal and external forces which brings about the changes on the way the companies operates. Working with a diversified workforce In all the organizations and companies no profession or work is independent; there should be involvement and relation of different work. In a business environment there is the management team, there is always sales and marketing department, manufacturing department and the legal personnel. As the company’s engineer I am obliged to see into it that there is a way in which I there is significant role they play in seeing the advancement in the engineering sector of the company. Sales and marketing is a subject of frequent changes therefore I will provide them with some of the easier to use electronic gadgets which may make them increase in their sales. For it is known in this millennium that technological knowhow is of much essence with smart phones and computer enabled phones it becomes necessary that we use the advanced ways of doing most of our things. In addition, the managers cannot discharge some of their duties without the good connection of the data networks or even the most basic electronic connections. Motivating a professional workforce Human psychological makeup is designed in such a way that they are very sensitive to demoralization as well as motivation. This is always considered natural and that it does not relate to the profession in which someone is. Most of the people are working in some of the profession because of the passion they have or the interest they have developed with time, but this cannot water down the fact that there is need for motivation. As the engineer of the company I will ensure motivation of members by ensuring a good working environment. A good working environment will call that there is electricity every time workers are in the company. I will ensure that those using the computers in their offices have the best connection of the internet facilities and that they can connect easily and communicate with their fellow workmates with ease. Of course there is nothing motivating as the entertainment and most of the entertainment gadgets are electronics I will ensure that they are installed in most of the places. Helping to develop a new generation of products and services better cheaper and faster For a company to make cheaper products it will be important to consider the cost of production. It is very essential to note that the more the cost of production there higher the likelihood that the prices of the products will increase. One of the major contributors in the cost of production is the labor and energy. Labor in this case is highly dependent on the human workforce. Energy plays a very important role in the business organizations as it is used in production. The engineers are the specialists with skills and knowledge on how to connect and generate the energy.It therefore possible that the engineers can greatly influence the cost of production by increasing the energy production in any region. Being the engineer I will ensure that the cost of energy is reduced so that the prices can reduce. Again the ideas of the engineers play a role. I will come up with an idea for example designing machines which can produce many products at the little time possible so that there can be many products within the shortest time possible so as to reduce the aspect of demand which may in turn lead to the fluctuation of prices thus making it hard for purchase by the consumers. On the issue of better products the ideas which have already been proved to be of importance should be advanced to ensure that the goods much the standards in which the consumers’ needs thereby increasing the appreciation from the market. Proactively identify and utilize future based web-base tools related to project design, project management, plant operations, facility and knowledge management to streamline company operations Currently most of the business organizations have embraced the application of the trending technological applications. As the engineering manager I will apply some of the technological computer application and websites for example designing the physical structure of the company for example the use of CAD to design some of the drawings as well as the ARCHICAD which are meant to give drawings by the use of computers. In project management there is a draft by the engineering management to see into it that there is a good management system in the company. The tools for project management such as the accounting software are designed by the software engineers who are part of my team. In project management the engineering team is of essence as it is able to design all the management structures involving the engineering work. For projects such as infrastructure of the company which includes road network and energy production. One of the fundamental requirements by most of the companies is the power which requires engineering involvement. For plant operations in the company I will ensure that the functionality of all the plants in the business company is up to date. This means that there must be improvement in the operations of plants every financial period. The improvement will come as a result of new ideas injected in the operation every time for example when we used to employ the use of fuel energy in the running of the plant machines; we will shun it and use electricity. The reason as to why we may change into the use of electricity is for its cleanliness and its friendliness to the environment. Another reason for the involvement of the electric energy is to bring about efficiency in the operations of plants as it calls only for the connections contrary to the fuel energy which is unreliable and time consuming. Forecasting future market conditions and technologies to enhance company sales and operations Forecasting is one of the projections most companies use in order to see into it that the business has required path for its operations. The strategic business plans are drafted in order to see into it that there is execution and implementation of all the stipulations of the forecast.
