The paper "The Global Automotive Industry - Jaguar Land Rover in the USA" is a perfect example of a case study on business. Attracting customers in the global market can be a challenging target for managers in all businesses. In sectors that are characterized by extremely high competition, such as the automotive industry, the difficulties related to organizational growth can be significantly more. Ritson (2012) has noted that in the particular industry sales are not always related to profits: reference is made to the case of firms that achieve high sales but which cannot secure any profit, a problem related to ineffective financial planning. In practice, it has been proved that businesses that emphasize e-commerce and online retailing are more likely to secure their growth, even in the long term. The potentials of a popular British car manufacturer, Jaguar Land Rover, to secure its market position through e-commerce are examined in this paper. Reference is also made to the role of the decision-making process and of the supply chain management to the recovery of the organization and to its expansion in the global market. It is proved that the strategic management of the firm, as organized and monitored by its new owner, Tata Motors, has been the key reason for the business recovery and growth. However, the success of the firm’s strategic management has been based on specific organizational processes, such as the decision-making process and the supply chain management. In the future, the firm plans to open a new plant in the US, for serving its customers in North America. In regard to the specific initiative, the firm’s growth could be secured by adopting a well-designed e-commerce scheme, in the context analyzed below. In any case, the decisions related to the specific plan should be taken according to the findings of marketing research, so that the preferences of local consumers are taken into consideration. Also, the restructuring of the firm’s current supply chain relations could be developed, if necessary, so that obstacles in regard to the expansion of the firm in the US market are eliminated.
