Download file to see previous pages Keeping in view the high level of daily usage of social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google+ and LinkedIn, companies have taken advantage of them by making ‘pages’ on Facebook which are accessible by the millions of Facebook users. The pages can be thought of as modern yellow page records. Twitter offers a ‘tweet’ option as a message which can be seen automatically on the homepages of those who follow it, and those who don’t follow it can also access them by visiting the company’s twitter profile. These can be used to catch the eyes of followers for new promotions and packages. By using the hashtag option (a # sign followed by a word or phrase) users can come across the company’s tweets even if they were not looking for it. Google+ is a relatively new social networking site but is gaining popularity at a good speed among businessmen. Google+, apart from using similar techniques used by Facebook and Twitter, also has some business-oriented options. Using the ‘Promote’ option, businessmen can promote their brands in specific circles of interest relative to what the businessmen have to offer. The ‘Measure’ option gives statistics of the usage and clientele of the page and by taking a ‘tutorial’, Google+ offers the best options available for the users (Jessica Bosari).
These social networking sites are very efficient in boosting a business within a low budget. Out of all the social networking websites, YouTube has been the most profitable platform. Users can view the videos uploaded by the clients who share their experience and helps in gaining the confidence of new clients (Alison Coleman).
The usage of social networking sites by the marketing departments of different organizations has a very strong impact on their business. Due to social networking sites, companies are able to connect with their customers, from around any corner of the world, irrespective of their locations, interact with them and cater to their needs (Alex Murray). Another impact of social networking media on business is that customers can give immediate feedback, in the form of comments and tweets on the company’s profile.
