The paper "Increase in for Profit Organizations" is a good example of an essay on business. In the past, there were many organizations that catered for the needs of people without seeking to make a profit (Maddox, 1999). However, this has changed drastically. Over time, the activities carried out by the non-profit sector are being taken over by for-profit organizations that seek to reap where they sow. This means that for every activity they perform for individuals, the main incentive behind their motives is purely the profit they end up getting. For-profit organizations are getting more and more familiar with modern surroundings. It is hard for individuals to find a non-profit organization that seeks to help since it is the right thing. This paper will review the manner in which for-profit organizations are dominating in areas previously thought to be for non-profit
The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is an example of an organization that caters to the needs of many people. Its main aim is to ensure that it helps people with pancreatic cancer. By helping them, it strives to ensure that the cancer survival rate is increased (Neoptolemos, 2010). It is their vision to provide these services to all those that are affected by pancreatic cancer.
Some of the services that this organization offers include the promotion of awareness of pancreatic cancer (Neoptolemos, 2010). It is an initiative that requires a lot of investment. This is in the form of time and money. They need to raise awareness so that people are aware of the things that affect them. Also, they need to support the patients that are in their care. They do this by advocating for research strategies that may be present in the country. Such research is insisted upon since it is seen as a way of creating hope.
Through a wide network of people ready and willing to work to fulfill the network’s mission, the organization seems to grow, and soar to higher heights. However, as in many other organizations that exist, it is next to impossible to miss some issues that affect this organization. Wrangles that affect the management of funds provided for them warrant a cause for worry. It is impossible for the organization to manage some of the funds that are provided (Neoptolemos, 2010). This is by both the government and other groups dedicated to their cause.
These wrangles largely come from their affiliate groups that are spread across the country. It is hard for them to manage funds that usually come from passionate individuals who want to aid in the fight against pancreatic cancer. Also, there have been indications that there are potential non-compliance standards in the organization (Gross, 2005). This makes people who might want to help in the organization’s dealings a little bit reluctant to do so. This leads to a reduction in the amount of money that the organization needs to perform its functions.
In conclusion, it gets harder and harder for this non-profit organization to compete in this health care sector. This is because of the number of for-profit organizations that are coming up to cater to people with the same health issues. The only difference is that they are keen on making a profit from it (Gross, 2005). This puts the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in a particularly precarious position. Since they are only interested in helping individuals, funding is still a problem. The overreliance on the government could be detrimental in achieving its overall mission. It is, therefore, very evident that for-profit organizations are here to stay. It is only a matter of time before they take control of every sector present in the world.
