May 15 Accounting is an appealing career to me due to the numerous benefits it provides to me as an individual and as a worker. Therefore, pursuing a career in accounting as an accountant is the option for me despite the rigorous vetting process. In addition, to be attractive, accounting offers one job satisfaction in many ways that is due to the prospects of enjoying or having an opportunity to take part in one’s hobbies through work. For example, an accountant has more options to travel abroad to exotic locations on work demands, and while there, one can use his/her free time to sight see and other activities.

In addition, travelling could be one’s hobby and while globetrotting, gets to enjoy the travelling experiences. Moreover, it provides an opportunity for extensive interaction with multiple cultures and even training on foreign languages paid for by the employer. This is in a bid to have to have multilingual and multicultural accountants who have a clue on international business practices. Therefore, with these, accountants have more opportunities to work in a wider variety of fields that they find pleasing such as forensic auditing, consultation in management and business as well as advising on tax (Phillip par. 7). As a career, accounting offers job security (Tolentino par. 3). This is because the credentials possessed by accountants are not easy to come by and those with higher credentials (certified public accountants) than normal accountants are even fewer thus, there is always a demand for them.

Additionally, with such a shortage, jobs are guaranteed be it in teaching accounting to other students to working for corporations of international repute. Job security is particularly vital with the current unpredictable trends in the world (Phillip par. 9). Accounting career is also attractive as it offers an opportunity for self-actualization, therefore, opportunities to advance one’s life beyond what others think are provided in accounting. For example, for people who have always been talented in math, were considered as out of the normal range of thinking, and thus were sidelined earlier in life; they get to put their passion into work.

This is through taking up accounting as a career so as to earn doing that which they like (Phillip para 11). Financial gain is also an appealing factor for me to take part in accounting as a career therefore, considering that the job is already appealing, financial gain is bonus. Moreover, an accountant makes good money in the form of a salary (Tolentino par. 1). These finances help towards the attainment of financial success that everyone is working so hard to achieve. There will even be more than the normal accountants earn if one goes for certification.

In such a case, an accountant earns up to 90,000 dollars and prospects of higher earnings are even higher (Tolentino par. 3). Accounting is a career that is highly valued and associated with prestige in the respect that it earns an individual both personally and professionally is immense. Peers regard one in high esteem due to the ethics, virtues, values, experiences and training that one has acquired. This means that the long studying time that an accountant no matter how tedious results in “sweet fruits”.

These are in the form of good character and personality as well as academic qualifications. At the end of an accountants training, one is equipped with individual characteristics that I would like to possess such as professionalism, commitment to one’s career, experience and expertise and a sense of responsibility (Phillip par. 4). In conclusion, these are just the few benefits that appeal to me. Accounting as a career is much more appealing than the money and job satisfaction offered. It provides security both financial and job security, that are crucial in today’s world thus making it appeal even more.
