ESSAY, BUSINESS SECTION A1 The benefits of providing free data (such as those of Land Registry site) often outweigh the costs by some significant margin. However, it is not always easy to recognize the benefits than the costs. Benefits include transparency, corporate accountability, and improvement of decision-making, better public services, economic and social growth. Benefits may amass in a number of ways and these include efficiency gains, costs savings and better opportunities of developing value by doing things in new ways. These things are not easy to quantify because they always develop with time and can only be seen in the forthcoming days. There are a number of ways of measuring the public sector information (PSI) and approximating the probable benefits of accessing it. The following formula represents the relationship between the benefit and the cost. Benefit/Costs=Agency & User Savings + Increased Returns to expenditure on PSI production Agency & Users Costs SECTION A2 After preparing a data sheet for the price transaction received at Land Registry (June 2015 data) for Lincolnshire, the average for the price (Pounds) was 175102, the count was 1244 and the sum was 217827032. The data for the month of June 2015 was evenly distributed with the highest data being value of cost being 877,500 pounds while the lowest value being 29,000 pounds. The measure of the spread of data shows that the cost of data distribution varies depending on the quantity of data being distributed on the internet. According to Lincolnshire records, the quantity of data distributed in the month of June 2015 amounts to 11 MB. SECTION A3 The following table represents Lincolnshire’s five highest prices including the postcodes of the towns. The method used in getting the highest five and the lowest five prices is by arranging the data in an ascending order from the highest value to the lowest value. This makes it easy to identify the first five values and the last five values. These are the values that were used in constructing the table below. Once rearranged in a chronological manner, the post codes will automatically be rearranged in the excel sheet. According to the table, the South Kesteven town was the only town to have the highest values whiles other towns such as West Lindsey, Lincoln, West Lindsey and East Lindsey experienced lower values. In of the year 2011, the number of cinema distributions was almost equal for every month. The peak of attendance was in the month of August, while the lowest attendance was experienced in the month of March. In the year 2012, the number of film attendance was almost equal. The highest attendance was in November while the lowest attendance was in the month of September. In the year 2013, there was also an average number of film attendance, the highest attendance experienced in the month of August and the lowest attendance in the month of September. In the year 2014, the number of film attendance was also almost equal for every month with the highest attendance experienced in the year December and August. The lowest attendance was experienced in the year September. According to the graph and these figures it is clear that January, August and December is a peak season for the film industry while the low season is experienced in March and September. SECTION B 2 The table below shows the weekend total and weeks on release plus the scatter diagram. £6,238,498 4 £3,793,617 7 £2,610,612 4 £1,575,092 4 £523,192 8 £304,610 8 £293,275 4 £114,673 6 £113,635 5 £66,685 5 £62,603 6 £60,292 9 £57,143 19 £51,773 According to the regression model, the film minions grossed the highest total with the fewest number of week releases (just a mere five times a week). The film “Home” performed poorly on the box office because it was released the most (19 times for every week) yet it barely grossed a significant amount at the box office. This means that very few people watch the film “Home” while a number of people watch the film minions. The “Terminator Genisys (3D)” is Also a film that does well in the box office. Despite a mere 4 times a week release, the film still manages to gross a significant amount of money at the box offices. The film “Sardaji” would also perform well at the box office if the number of releases per week can be increased. Another film that performed poorly is the “San Andreas (3D)”. While the film had been distributed nine times in a week it only managed to gross a mere 57, 143 pounds at the box office. This shows that the film has very little audience. Other films that performed well at the box office include “Jurassic World (3D)”, “Magic Mike XXL” and the “Army”. “Mr. Holmes” performed averagely at the box office considering the weekend total and the number of weekly releases.
