The expected outcomes of the study include that there is a relation between academic performance and use of networking sites for instruction and that academic performance augment with the use of social networking sites. The research proposal will consist of a number of areas that will act as an important guide in the completion of the research project on the effect of social networking sites on LSBF Students academic performance. A background of the study will be established followed by the statement of the research question and aims of the project.
The theoretical framework, methodology, timescale and ethical limitations will form the other components of this research proposal. The advent and extended use of social networks for academic, business, and personal activities has been tremendous. The effect has been the emergence of web-based technologies, internet broadband services, smartphones, and mobile devices used in different facets of human lives to aid in achieving better results and the expense of limited resources. The use of social networking sites for education instruction has been on the rise begging for the need to have an understanding of its effectiveness in ensuring academic performance (West, April 24, 2012, 1).
Relevant literature has mainly been aimed at investigating the use of social networks by college students and its impacts on their performance. Literature accessed on the use of social networking sites for educational instruction depicts the effectiveness in improving academic performance forming the basis for this study in understanding its effectiveness at LSBF (Adeoye, 2014, Laire et al., 2012, Lerner et al., 2011). The research will provide a platform for the improvement of social networking sites at LSBF and the benefits derived by the students when social networking sites are used for education instruction (Benson, & Morgan, 2014).
