This implies that the three companies are competitors. As such, they employ different marketing tactics in their attempt to win over a large share of the $400 billion industry. Each of the three companies enjoys substantial profitability, a feature that portrays the success of their varied marketing strategies. As the competition in the industry heighten, so do they continue to advance their aggressive marketing as the case analysis below portrays. Question 1 Introduction Apple enjoys a positive reputation for the quality of its products. As such, the company relies on the positive reputation to sell its other related products. The company manufactures high quality smart phones and computers. The products use a unique operating system. Such is an effective strategy that limits the company’s customers to the products of the company. Google on the other hand employs diversification as its key marketing strategy. The company manufactures various products and applications all of which enjoy relative market shares. The cumulative effect of the diversification safeguards the company’s profitability. Microsoft is the current leader of the PC world. The company scooped the market from inception by creating a unique product that lacked in the society. Conclusion As such, it remained to enjoy the benefits of such an iconic invention. The company has numerous operating systems coupled with equally vital programs. Additionally, the company bought Nokia in its attempt to diversify its market thus enjoys a share of the fast growing smart phone market. The strategies employed by each of the three companies are effective since they ensure that the companies enjoy their relative profitability. Question 2 Introduction As explained earlier, each of the three companies continue to struggle for the mobile computing market. This portrays the importance of the market. Mobile computing is the future of the industry. The use of portable devises if the future of the industry as uses continue to demand for both convenience and mobility. Explanation Google continues to manufacture applications to suite the interface of the various handheld devises. The company enjoys increased profitability owing to the efficiency of its products such as the google.com search engine among many others. Apple has among the largest share of the market. The company manufactures top of the range smartphones, tablets and laptops all of which enhance mobile computing. Furthermore, the devices use a unique operating system that limits the company’s customers to its products. Conclusion Microsoft enjoys increased profitability owing to its attempt to diversify its products and services. Microsoft purchased Nokia thus introducing Nokia Lumia, a range of smart phones that use the Windows operating system. Additionally, its other products such as the Microsoft office suite remain important for billions of computer uses throughout the world. Question 3 Introduction Applications and app stores embody the growth of the industry. The invention of such has enhanced the success of mobile computing thus expanding the market to accommodate additional manufacturers. The inventions have expanded the market thus heightening the competition among the various companies. Explanation Apple, Google and Microsoft must currently install an operating system that permits the uses to download and install additional applications to their devices. This creates a unique environment that requires the companies to employ strategic marketing in order to sustain their market shares. In order to do this, most of the companies limit their customers to download applications from specific stores. Android operating system became popular in the market owing to its permissive nature coupled with a large database of applications that consumers can download thus enhancing their satisfaction. Before Microsoft purchased Nokia for example, the company had begun using the android operating system owing to its success. The current windows operating system used in most of the smartphones permit uses to download additional applications. Conclusion Applications and apps stores expanded the market thus heightening the competition among the internet giants. Microsoft, Google and Apple currently continue to introduce new products and applications with the view to tapping on the growing market. IPhone 6 for example has a unique mobile money transfer and payment application. Such inclusions portray the companies’ dedication to the dictates of the market and desire to gain a competitive advantage over the others. Question 4 Introduction The struggle for the market is heightening among the three titans. The market continues to attract new players a feature that heightens the competition. The most effective marketing strategy that will prevail is diversification. When a company develops numerous products, each product enjoys a substantial market share thus earning the company some profits. The cumulative effect of the diverse products sustains the profitability of the company. Explanation The three companies have coexisted in the market for several years. Each enjoys a substantial market share. The market is promising with a forecasted net value of $400 billion in 2015 (Rainer & Cegielski, 2011). Of the three companies, Apple is likely to enjoy increased profitability thereby beating the other two equally competitive firms. Apple’s products enjoy a positive reputation. The company manufactures a variety of hand held devices such as smartphones, tablets, laptops and computers among many others. The numerous devices use unique operating system manufactured by the company. Such is an aggressive market strategy the company employs to secure its profitability. Conclusion The company continues to collaborate with other software developers with the view to providing their customers with a variety of applications to download from the company’s app store. Such development shows the company’s attempt to limit its market to the products of the company thereby enhancing its profitability. Such products as iPod and the Beats by Dre headsets show the company’s aggressive marketing strategy as it seeks to monopolize the market. Question 5 Introduction If the Apple, Google and Microsoft dominated the market, they would limit consumers to their products. Other small-scale manufacturers would not suffice anymore. Explanation The three companies have effective marketing strategies coupled with immense resources capable of developing virtually any product. Furthermore, they carry extensive researches and are therefore able to influence the future of computing. However, their domination of the market would mean that they would keep fighting for the same market. The competition among the companies will intensify. Conclusion Intense competition is likely to lower the cost of products since price is always a fundamental element in marketing.
