Personal ment I would like to define myself as an ambitious and forward thinking individual, possessing all the essential qualities that are required for effective business management. My strengths lie in the areas of decision making, people management, analytical judgment, identification of crucial points and assessing business situations. I also possess strong and effective team work skills as I am able to work individually as well in a group. I am also trying to work on my organizational skills by the help of the experience I have gained through my academic work and apprenticeship. My excellent interpersonal skills help me to communicate business information to my target audience by preparing crisp and well thought out presentations. I consider myself a social person for I like spending time with my families and friends. Being the part of the local community, I also like providing my assistance at local events and for other social causes. I am currently studying at Mt San Antonio College and this is my third year of school. Most of my subjects in the school are business related and therefore my interest in this particular field of study has grown with time. Within all this while I have learnt that my courses are much more than business management. They are providing an experience to the customer that is not less than exceptional; while motivating the employees to deliver their best by fulfilling their responsibilities. The basic responsibilities of the employees should be the maintenance of loyal customer base, providing exceptional customer service, guiding the customers on the product information and applications, handling new merchandise and working as a team to achieve mutual organizational objectives. All these factors contribute towards the success of an organization and therefore I have tried my level best to learn these skills through practical and theoretical knowledge. My father is an entrepreneur and is running his own business for almost 15 years. As a child I accompanied my father to various business meeting and negotiations. I heard my father and his employees discussing about the current economic conditions of the country and status of the stock market. Although as a kid I did not have much knowledge about all this but as I grew up, I started finding this subject interesting. I eagerly started waiting for my father to ask me to accompany me at the business meetings or negotiations. It was in the first year of my high school that I started watching businesses news for studying the position of several markets in the present economy and the stocks of firms. I think it was my understanding of the business world and economic conditions that made me score 3.5 CGPA. However I have never felt satisfied with what I had achieved in my academic career and therefore I will continue to work much harder to improve my grades and gain some more practical experience of the business world before starting with my University. I consider myself a technical minded person and therefore I did an apprenticeship with XYZ bank in China. My responsibilities at work included assisting in several project related to employees’ development, employees’ management and organizational policy making. This internship experience taught me three basic points for achieving success in any business. Firstly, it has taught me that it’s important to understand the factors which drive a business and the steps/strategies needed for removing the barrier coming in the way of firm’s profitability and growth. Secondly, developing the sight to look far beyond the numbers to the business drivers and trends and thirdly being able to handle short deadlines and pressure, without compromising the work quality. This internship experience did open for me a door to the practical world as I learned to work with professionals and how to strategically deal with the hurdles and obstacles related to work (Employers obligations and employees rights). I also gathered some experience in social work by working with a non-profit organization serving the underprivileged children and providing them access to the basic necessities such as education, clothes and shelter. I worked for almost a year with a group of 5 trustees to run some major operations of the organization. I also helped them in designing their annual budget and assisted them in 3 fundraising events for meeting the requirements of the budget. I also assisted them with organizing some informative events for children and persuaded people to come and visit the children we worked for and donate whatever they want. While I worked for this non-profit organization I observed that we need to shift to a bigger place, in order to effectively meet the growing needs of the children. My idea was immediately approved by the trustees and I also assisted them in finding properties that would be sufficient to meet the growing need of the children. The most important think I learned while working with this non-profit organization is how to design and manage an annual budget, when the firm has such limited resources. This was actually a valuable experience as it taught me the effective management of resources. At present, I am looking forward for an opportunity that would further help me in career progression and personal development by being a part of an accredited university and taking business management as my majors. During this course of time I want to gain more knowledge about power, nature and limitations of different business techniques, learn how management influence the performance of business and gain an insight about how the non-profit organization help in addressing social problems. After reviewing the courses offered at different Universities, I concluded that UC can be the best option for me. I came to this conclusion after going through the course outline and the objective of the program which points towards the fact that UC is working a step ahead from other institutions in meeting the needs of the students for surviving in such a competitive environment. I also aim to put my full effort in the course, achieve satisfactory result and make the most out of it before the completion of my degree.
