This economy is meant to help these corporations to maximize their profits thus driving the world towards financial instability and concentration of resources and wealth in one region. The author goes ahead to talk about the new economy 2.0 that recognizes humans as the living inhabitants of a living earth The New Economy 2.0 according to Korten (2013) recognizes that the economy has no other main legitimate purpose than to serve life. Korten (2013) calls for radical reinvention of the definition of the economic culture so that it becomes centered on human wellbeing.

The best way that is proposed for achieving the New Economy 2.0 is through local economy movement where the author indicates that local economy movements should be the engine of the entire economy. The New Economy 2.0 is in line with McKibben’s view in the book ‘Deep Economy’. In his book, McKibben argues that the gigantic Wall Street Corporations economy is unmanageable and has resulted in instability and unhappiness in the world. He therefore supports a ‘farmers’ market nation’ which is manageable.

Such economy is based on empowering the local people to be independent and stable. This is the same proposal that is being fronted by Korten (2013) when the author argues that stabilizing local economies by making them vibrant and self empowered is the way to go. These two authors therefore share the same idea of building a self sufficient and independent local economy rather that a gigantic Wall Street Corporations economy that are not easy to manage (McKibben, 2008). New Economy Coalition (2014) talks about how many people in different regions of the world are working together so as to build their local economies and communities.
