To name a few, the authors of the article have mentioned Google, Apple, IBM etc. for the analysis of ways in which the major companies of the world are contributing in social distress. It will not be incorrect to state that the authors of the article under review have proposed a solution for the problems within modern society. The solution has been posed in terms of setting out a new paradigm. The authors of the article have indicated their proposal on the basis of presenting past experiences.
The background information provided by the authors in the article fully back up that companies in the previous times were more inclined towards social values. Consequently, such social values became a reason or back of major economic success over the years. I would not disagree with the background information that has been utilized by the authors in order to back up their claims. It is because corporate giants in the present world are prone to maximize their profits and think about their corporate social responsibility as a secondary function (Porter and Kramer).
Furthermore, it can also be stated that while reading the article, I thought that the authors are merely focused towards presenting their criticism of the corporate giants. However, as I read further, I was able to understand that the authors have been extremely successful in pointing out various options that corporate brands have in their hands to make a great difference within the society. These options of points included the discussion regarding shared value. This is one of the effective pointers of the article for which it must be positively acclaimed by the critics as it not only presents a criticism but also come up with solution to solve the indicated issues.
