Reflective Report The on creativity in enterprise has imparted into me knowledge and insights that I can use both in my professional development as well as the personal development in my career. From the module, I was able to learn about the importance of integrating and developing the concept tools that concern creativity in the business environment while the research skills developed within the module will be important in enhancing teamwork and personal development. Through the module, I have been able to have the requisite knowledge for obtaining an entrepreneurial and intra-preneurial approach in business and personal development. More importantly, the course has provided me with tools for creativity and for solving problems within the business environment through the successful application of these tools and ideas. The practical application of the creativity and innovation tools has enabled me to have a wider knowledge on how to approach problems in my career and in business and come up with solutions to solve the problems. Through the module, I was able to learn the importance of creativity and how it affects performance and failures in contemporary business practice as well as how to manage them. For instance from the theory of Zeger Degraeve I have learnt on how to create an organizational culture that fosters the business belief of taking risks, experimentation and innovation and he need to focus on the qualities of decision making rather than the outcomes alone. Through the theory of Zeger, I have learnt that the results of decisions is irrelevant as a measure of decision quality as the difference between the time lapse of the decision itself and the realization of the results. In the course of the module and on the basis of Zeger’s theories, I have learnt that the quality of decision is measured at the moment the decision is made as decision-making is always a process is based on valuing the alternatives at the moment they are available and the present information. I have also learnt that the process of making decisions is a reflective and analytical and must embrace the tenets of effective communication. In any business, my personal lessons from this theory is that one should be judged by the quality of their performance and that progress in the career should reflect our intrinsic quality of our contribution to the business in terms of decisions. I have also managed to grasp ideas on the stages of team development from the five-step analysis given by Tuckman as these are necessary for the team in handling the challenges and problems and how to solve them for better results in the business. The lessons have imparted in me that team building starts with the formation of the team which requires proper organization as members are required to know each other, exchange personal information and the making of new accomplices. In the stage of storming, I have learnt that there are different ideas and each idea compete for consideration and one can only achieve the best team if it functions independently and the team is tolerant to the views and ideas of one another. In the proper building of teams in any business, it is important that there is a mutual plan for making the business to succeed in its goals. The lessons learnt in the module also show that high performance of any team in the business will also depend on how the team transforms the decisions that have been agreed upon by the team as a whole. The ideas derived from these theories will be relevant for me in my future endeavours in the development of my business as they will help me in employing the best strategies for the success of the business. The lessons have also been important in that they have stressed the need to build teams and have the support of all human resources within the organization for its business development. I especially find the models proposed by Tuckman as more relevant for my business as it recognizes that groups must grow through clearly defined stages that are important for attaining the aims of the business. These ideas are important as they also show that for the business to reach the optimum of its performance it must overcome the market dynamics that may try bringing the business down. The lessons learnt from the module have also helped me in creativity and personal development as I have been able to make use of my time and personal cognitive resources to achieve my goals faster. From the module, I have learnt that personal development requires that I combine opportunity and hard work meaning that it is about personal resolve and being in the right place and at the right time. I have also learnt that though talent may be innate, a person has to develop it and a person can only get better if the person sets his mind on how to improve on the talent in any task that has been assigned to him in his personal development. The lessons on personal development have also taught me that the strongest predictor of achievement is usually the capacity and mind set for hard work by the person concerned. In terms of personal development, I have realized that the environment of a person and the culture of the people around him overwhelm genetic variation due to the changes that occur due to hard work by a person. This means that the drive and the ambition by a person is what is important for the development of the person and all his faculties meaning the working hard can transform a person in his personal growth. I have had the opportunity to comprehend the fact that even if I have achieved something as a result of personal growth and development, it is important that I continue working hard and be innovative in order that I maintain the standards that I have already attained. The knowledge aforementioned for personal development is especially relevant for me as a resident of Hong Kong as our society is highly competitive and requires that a person keeps in touch with the ideas and norms of strengthening talents in order to be productive in whatever he does. The lessons in this module have also changed my perceptions as a public relations practitioner on how organizations are usually run and managed. I have learnt that effective running and management of organizations require that there is proper management of all the resources within the organization and this includes the human resources, the money as well as the projects. My understanding has also been enhanced and upgraded as I am now aware that I must continuously apprise myself of the management principles when I am undertaking creative projects in order to understand their demands, opportunities and challenges. The lessons learnt have made me aware that these management skills necessary for running an organization require that I match up the aspirations of the business and the need to hone the skills over time in order to achieve the best results. Through this module, I have a changed understanding of how an organization behaves as I have learnt that change is a process and not event. I have appreciated the fact that change and new knowledge may be important as a means of improving the performance of any business or organization. I have learnt that whenever there is new knowledge, it is important to treat the change or the new knowledge as a process and that the individual experience which affects the organization changes as the process goes on. It is therefore important to evaluate and focus on the knowledge based on the goals and visions of the organization and that the knowledge should only be taken if they are relevant or work to the advantage of the business. The module has improved my teamwork skills as I now appreciate the importance of bringing brains together for the best results in any organization as there is shared knowledge of different facets of development. I have obtained the knowledge that effective teamwork requires that the individuals concerned are aware of the internal and the external factors that affect the enterprise performance as well as the environment in which the organization operates. I have appreciated the fact that successful teamwork requires that the team understands the goals and commit to the objective of attaining them in line with the expectations of the enterprise. Lessons learnt also indicate that the team must create an environment where the members are comfortable in taking reasonable risks and that there is open communication which is honest and respectful. As a lesson to effective teamwork, I have learnt that I should have a strong sense of belonging to the team and respect the experiences, points of views and the opinions of the members of the group. More important, the module has taught me that for effective group work, I have to be creative, innovative and have diverse viewpoints on different issues as well as constantly examine myself in order to improve the processes, practices and my interactions with members of my team. From the above discussion, I can ably state that the module has been of great importance to me both at a personal and a business level. It has availed to me serious insights on how I can properly take advantage of teamwork in all that I carry out in any business enterprise both now and in future. More important is the fact that I have been able to appreciate and develop my talents and knowledge on how to run a successful business enterprise. Read More
