Companies have set up a code of conduct which ensures smooth operations hence success. Different codes of conduct are used such as Legal and Ethical Responsibility to the Company (Atkins, 2006). This code has further divisions such as Responsibility for Compliance whereby the stakeholders of the company have the responsibility to read and understand this code and to abide by it in both spirit and letter. All records, information and data owned and used by the company must be complete and accurate at all times as explained in the records and reporting (Atkins, 2006).

The code of Proper Use of Company Assets gives the employees of various power companies the responsibility of protecting the Company’s assets against misuse, theft and loss (Balmer, 1983). The second code of conduct among the similar power companies is the Additional Legal and Ethical Responsibilities which include commodity marketing and trading whereby they are complying with the set marketing rules (Atkins, 2006). The environment Commitment code enables the company to conduct its business in a manner which is environmentally friendly (Balmer, 1983).

The company must comply with the environmental regulations, laws and standards. Privacy of employee information encourages confidentiality of employee’s information (Atkins, 2006). Code of Intellectual Property gives protection to the company’s intellectual property in accordance with federal and state laws (Balmer, 1983). The Antitrust Code is designed to protect consumers from unfair business arrangements and to preserve competition among enterprises (Balmer, 1983). In the Code of Conflicts of Interests, the employees must be careful so that they are not involved in activities that may conflict with their abilities to take action that are useful to the company (Balmer, 1983).
