The research notes that the United Arab Emirates is now concentrating on tourism, building and construction, sports, and real estate after shifting its reliance from the oil industry (Grant, Golawala, & McKechnie 2007 p. 507). Essay 2 The reading, “A Comparative Analysis of Sport and Business Organizations: Factors Perceived Critical for Organizational Success” by Robert Weinberg & Matthew McDermott reckons that there has been immense research on the psychology of excellence in sports. The research establishes that researchers have been seeking to know the factors, which lead to an effective organization. There has been various reports on the connections and similarities between successful leaders and organizations in the sport and business arenas.

Hence, this study focuses on the contrast and comparison of sports and business leader’s perceptions on the factors, which lead to a successful organization (Weinberg & Mcdermott 2002 p. 282). Therefore, the research aims at establishing the similarities and differences which most sport and business leaders in agree on as the motivators of a successful organization. The research uses significant research method to achieve the required results. The research used a sample of ten sportsmen and ten businesspersons who volunteered to participate in the interview.

As such, the research used qualitative research methods like interviews to establish the perception of the participants on organizational effectiveness with relation to leadership, group cohesion, and communication (Weinberg & Mcdermott 2002, p. 282). The interviews took approximately 60 minutes and followed a semi-structured approach (Weinberg & Mcdermott 2002 p. 286). The hierarchical content analysis technique analyzed the interview data. The research used the triangular consensus method to review the transcripts and reach agreement on the categories and themes gleaned from the interviews (Weinberg & Mcdermott 2002 p. 287). The analysis derived results, which established that there are more similarities than differences between sportsmen and businesspersons on the factors, which enhance organizational success.

Indeed, all leaders established all higher- and lower-order themes as factors, which influence organizational success (Weinberg & Mcdermott 2002 p. 282). Nevertheless, there were significant differences between the perceptions of the two leaders. Business leaders emphasized on honesty and being a reflective listener, while sport leaders put more emphasis on positive communication and interactions with others (Weinberg & Mcdermott 2002, p. 288-293). These results were fundamental in establishing the similarities and differences between the two groups on the factors, which enhance organizational success.
