Concept Proposal “Beach Bum Gym” Research Design The research will be designed on the basis of descriptive method. Descriptive research involves population survey, assortment of broad variety of public symptoms and economic information such as expenditure pattern of people and purchasing power of people among others. The research will be conducted in two phases, one is through literature review and the other one is through field survey (New York University, n.d.). Literature review in this research will be used to summarize and recognize known information about the topic which is gym business.

Before undertaking any research there is need for collecting information from different sources, combining them and examining them critically. Though literature review on the proposal topic, various aspects of gym business such as its importance on human life and benefits people can get from it can be recognized, which in turn will generate new knowledge or viewpoints. A logical literature review will be substantial towards ensuring that all significant information about the subject has been included in the business research.

Literature review will help to explain the crucial thoughts without trying to be systematic. In order to undertake the research, survey will be conducted for collecting information on the research subject. Survey is a descriptive research method and is widely used to evaluate the approaches and characteristics of broad ranges of issues. The survey will be used to understand the trends of fitness business across the USA and trend of people about maintaining healthy lifestyle. Besides, survey will help to create a plan of prospective customers for “Beach Bum Gym” in Hampton area.

The survey will be ‘cross sectional survey’ which will help to collect information about a population at single time period. In order to conduct the survey, questionnaire will be designed for collecting data from people of Hampton beach area on a random basis and gym members from few randomly chosen gyms in the Hampton area (The University of Texas at Austin, n.d.). Data Analysis Data analysis comprises the evaluation of collected information to find a thorough and valid conclusion for the research problem.

In this research the data analysis will be based on details about the research subject, coherent analysis of questionnaire survey and uses of charts. First the data will be assembled which will provide an understanding or explanation about the research problem, and then will be assessed with measurement scales. There are four kinds of measurement scales which are nominal, ordinal, interval and ratio. For this research, nominal and ordinal scale will be used (Wofford College, n.d.). The reason for using nominal scale is that it is much beneficial in revealing the behavior of people towards fitness activities.

This type of scale is extensively used in questionnaire survey where data are categorized by key subcategories of the population. The ordinal scale will used for assessing more than one interests of people. The ordinal scale in this business research will help to understand various attitudes and preferences of people about the “Beach Bum Gym” facilities. After measuring and analyzing the data, the results will be interpreted on theoretical basis. On the basis of analysis from literature review and questionnaire survey, proper assumptions will be considered about the research subject (Cooper & Schindler, 2006).

Nature and Form of Results After analyzing the data there is need to review the research statement and research objectives to ensure that each objective is covered. The type of data acquired from the research and explanation that are developed in the analysis will be enclosed prior to starting the research. In this research exploratory information will be gathered and studied on the basis of research subject. The study will be conducted on the basis of qualitative approach which seeks to develop a general and narrative explanation to advice about the understanding of research phenomenon.

This study will take place in usual situations by employing a combination of observations and literature review. Understanding of business situation will be acquired though universal viewpoint. Data will be used to develop perceptions which can help to recognize if the “Beach Bum Gym” will be profitable on the Hampton beach area or not (CharlesDennisHalet, 2011). The data from questionnaire will be noted which will be valuable to gain instant interpretation and will be observed as being directly relevant or chiefly stimulating.

Though there is a risk of biasness in remarking information from questionnaire, it will be suitable for this business research, as the study includes summarizing the collected information and presenting the outcomes in such a way which can effectively interconnect the most substantial features of the research problem. Finally, the results of this research will help to discover the broad understanding by using several techniques such as measuring scales, graphs and tables among others (Hancock, 2002).
