? The impact of social networking on business Outline (Summary) Introduction Definition: Business is the specific field discussed in this essay and its recent development includes substantial innovation in communication through social networking. Short History: Social networking started in 1971 and today there are many social networking having Facebook on top of the list. Development: The proponent discusses the remarkable implications of social networking in business. Social Networking (Body) The following points can help emphasize why social networking can stand as innovation in business. It can disclose important information to other parties. This can help individual extend his or her network of contacts. It is capable of giving remarkable opportunities to individual. It can help transform lives because it is a matter of experience in which individuals’ behaviors will be eventually influenced. Finally, it keeps everyone informed about latest events and trends. Conclusion Business requires communication. Social networking is a modern form of communication connecting individuals in today’s modern life. This implies that social networking can be integrated with business in the future as it showcases remarkable benefits. It provided opportunities. It also helps an individual increase his or her ability to connect with the entire world. Introduction Business is an integral part of life everyday because it is associated with our daily survival. For instance, a single purchase of antibiotic by consumers in drugstores would mean a great impact on the product chain, starting from the production down to marketing department, giving benefits to the consumers, offering stable jobs for others, and profit among business-minded individuals. On the other hand, the ever changing fashion trend influences the people around the globe the way they dress and how producers design apparels suited to the prevailing market need. Business therefore is simply a matter of creating trends, understanding consumers and their needs and building long-term relationship for profit-generating activity. These are some of the essential elements that need to be mastered in business, but one of the most important factors that need to be considered in great detail is consumer behavior as it has important business implications (Deutsch, 2010). This reason that for many years, business significantly improved the way it is conducted and it continuously seeks to understand consumer behavior. Today, business is an integral part of the social changes as social networking is developed over time and as found to be of great advantage on business activity. Consumer behavior in particular is integrated in the modern social change. For instance, Facebook as a renowned social networking site is not only a venue for friendship-related activities, but in creating business in particular as it is currently patterned in the principle of how social behavior functions. This is evident in its website where it is clear how each individual interacts with each other with particular messages. Social networking site dates back to its humble beginning in 1971 when the first email was sent, and it remarkably improved until 1995 where online contents can be published with freedom, which brought forward the inception of Friendster in 2002, Myspace in 2003, Facebook in 2004, Twitter in 2006 and in 2008 Facebook bested them all based on the number of users and online visits per day (Onlineschools.org., 2011). This remarkable innovation and evolution in social networking have important business implications and this is the point the proponent discusses in this paper. Social networking Social networking is an innovation in business for the following reasons. The first point is its ability to disclose significant information that would be important to some people around the globe. As a result, it has the capacity to augment an individual’s network of contacts (Wilson, 2009). For instance, a person who looks for someone interested in conducting business may be able to offer his or her objective by searching through the member’s profile in a social networking site. In Facebook, member’s profile is created in order for an individual to achieve important background of a person that would be relevant in conducting business. For example, a fashion designer would be interested to look for individuals who have the affinity for latest fashion trends. They eventually may start inviting and accepting each other as friends, then down to a simple talk about the latest fashion trend, and business may eventually come across their conversation. It is simple as that, but the point of social networking site is its ability to spread one’s network and increase individual’s chance to associate with other people around the world. The second point is the ability of social networking to emphasize various privileges and opportunities for the individual, business person or an organization. For instance, through social networking sites, people who are looking for jobs may be able to find one that best suits their interests and qualification, as they also remarkably increase the number of their contacts. Nowadays, the existence of smartphones and other cutting edge technology for communication is giving opportunity for people to be socially connected with each other and find their best opportunity even in highly isolated cases (Chang & Wang, 2010). According to Chang and Wang, this would give opportunities to individuals who are socially isolated and ensure their good chance of finding them in today’s fast-paced world. Not only that, Chang and Wang argued that through social networking, individuals who are viewed with disability and impairment may find the opportunity to be “capable of participating in the world and opportunity for social integration.” The next point is that social networking sites are able to transform lives. According to Gallon (2010), “Transformation can also occur through behavioral evolution.” Gallon emphasized that social media such as Facebook, Twitter and others are able to transform lives through changing the behavioral aspect of the society. This is successfully created through integrating experience. In social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, individuals have to remarkably choose between two experiences: social browsing and social searching (Wise, Alhabash, & Park, 2010). This makes Facebook and other social networking websites to socially connect individuals that at some point brings forward essential transformation in their lives because of their remarkable experiences in the process. Based on the above information, it is clear that social networking is actually trying to connect people around the world for the purpose of creating experience. Out of this experience is the ability of individual to achieve certain perspective on how to interact in modern way. Social networking sites are also able to keep individual informed about certain information or events. For example, politicians can actually create a need for specific response from their constituents during their political campaign. This is emphasized by Robertson, Vatrapu, & Medina (2010) that in the US politics especially in 2008, politicians were able to use social networking sites “for the purpose of communicating with constituents, voters, collecting donations, fostering community and organizing events.” Conclusion The humanity is trying to recreate social connection through the aid of social networking. It is a perfect tool that can be effectively used in order to convey information and initiate the modern-way communication system. Considering that business requires certain level of communication, it is not impossible to integrate social networking with it. Social networking is a modern way of interaction among individuals that shows remarkable potential in the business world. After all, the business world is about expanding networks with people and social networking is just an opportunity since it is about connecting people in the first place. References/Links Deutsch, M.
