Fictitious Experiment Fictitious Experiment Option A: Grass Growth Experiment Introduction The experiment Option A was purposely conducted to study the effects of salt of the growth of grass. To do this, salt was spread on a driveway on daily basis during winter. Later, its effects were observed during spring when the grass was to start growing. To compare the results, a control experiment was also carried out.
Hypothesis
Salt has an inhibition effect on the growth of grass
Control Experiment
Along side the experiment, a control experiment was done by using grass and allowing it to grow in normal conditions without using salt. This was necessary as it would help in comparing the effects of salt on the growth of grass.
Results
The grass in the salt did not grow. Those nearby grew at a very slow rate. However, there was no change on the control experiment because the grass grew normally.
Conclusion
The grass on the salt did not grow because its growth was prevented by the salt. Salt is a dehydrating agent. So, it absorbed all the water around the roots of the grass. Therefore, it prevented the plant from absorbing water, oxygen and nutrients. So, no grass could grow. Meanwhile, grass nearby grew at a slower rate because their growth was inhibited by salt. On the other hand, the grass in the control experiment grew normally because they had favorable conditions for their growth. So, salt inhibits the growth of grass. Read More
