However, there was no change on the control experiment because the grass grew normally. Conclusion The grass on the salt did not grow because its growth was prevented by the salt. Salt is a dehydrating agent. So, it absorbed all the water around the roots of the grass. Therefore, it prevented the plant from absorbing water, oxygen and nutrients.

So, no grass could grow. Meanwhile, grass nearby grew at a slower rate because their growth was inhibited by salt. On the other hand, the grass in the control experiment grew normally because they had favorable conditions for their growth. So, salt inhibits the growth of grass.
