a.What is the three-fold purpose of the Land Grant Mission? Explain how this supports or conflicts with the goals of a public garden.

        The three-fold purpose of the land grant mission is to expand educational opportunities as well as help address important societal concerns. This supports the public garden in that this mission goes hand in hand with the public gardens mission to preserve trees in the campus arboretum,  introduce new plants and promote biodiversity, provide guidelines for sustainable tree care and landscape management document tree histories, and provide tools and programs to educate the students and the public about sustainable urban horticulture.
