The DNA bases combine with each other to form a base pair for example when A combines with T, C and G they form a pair that is unique for each human being (Adams and OIRL Press, 1991, p.17). Each base is combined with a sugar molecule and a phosphate molecule and the combination is called a nucleotide which is arranged in two long strands forming a double helix. The spiral nucleotide forms its self like a ladder with the DNA pairs as the ladder rungs while the sugar ad phosphate molecules act like the sidepieces of a ladder (Kornberg and Baker, 2005, p.7). DNA serves the purpose of storing biological information since it is resistant to cleavage and both strands store the same biological information (Adams and OIRL Press, 1991, p.44).
In the human body cells, there are normally 46 strands of DNA that are called chromosomes and they are coded in a sequence of heterocyclic amines (Adams and OIRL Press, 1991, p.47). The chromosomes contain genes that contain hereditary information used to distinguish an individual from another or establish their biological information. The human body cells are in a continuous process of multiplication due to cell damage and body growth. Prior to cell division the DNA material that was previously in the cell must be duplicated so that the cell to come after cell division will have a full amount of DNA material. The semi-conservertive process by which the dna material is duplicated is called DNA replication. The process is termed as semi conservertive since the DNA in the new cell contains one strand from the previous cell and a newly synthesized strand and DNA Replication take place by breaking the hydrogen bonds between bases of the two antiparallel strands (Adams and OIRL Press, 1991, p.50). The unwinding of the two ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

As can be inferred, its inheritance is ruled by Mendelian codominance, wherein IA and IB are codominant alleles, while i is the recessive allele (Campbell and Reece, 2002). Thus, if a parent with a blood type A or B has an I-i, then it is possible that his or her child can have blood type O, especially when the other parent has an I-i or ii genotype.

The answer lies in deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), and its unique composition. Like a fingerprint, each person has a unique DNA sequence that contributes to their individuality (NIH). DNA then goes on to encode for unique proteins that act as markers in the blood, which help lab technicians make specific identifications (NIH).

Cloning (Argument Synthesis)
Thesis Cloning is justifiable because it opens opportunities for future generations to live healthy life free from mortal disease. Cloning should be permitted because it proposes great opportunities for modern medicine to increasing life span. 'Dolly the sheep' won world-wide fame for being the first successful animal clone, an animal artificially produced directly from genetic material with the purpose of duplicating the features of the adult animal from which the material was taken.

Impact of DNA damage induced by anticancer drugs on both S phase and mitosis phase of the cell cycle
Many genetic changes happen when a normal cell is converted to a cancer cell (Hartwell & Kastan 1994). In a carcinoma cell the normal order and the functions of a cell are impaired and the usual limits of cell division are ignored. This condition may arise as a result of a mutation / change of the genetic sequence or due to DNA damage and it is important to note that the ‘growth fraction’ (ratio of proliferating cells to cells in resting stage) is remarkably high in carcinoma cells than in normal cells (Eidukevicius et al.

The Discovery of the Structure of DNA
As any student enters their first year of Biology class, the topic of DNA as a whole is one of the biggest frameworks for biological study and understanding all together. Fundamentally, "DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) is a very special kind of molecule (the smallest particle of a substance that still has all the properties of that substance).

On April 25th, 1953, the now famous scientific pair of Watson and Crick attempted to finally answer this question (Fredholm). They claimed that an elegant molecule called deoxyribonucleic acid, or DNA, was the “God Molecule”, the blueprint for every protein in our body (and the subsequent molecules those proteins go on to make), the stuff of life (What Is DNA?
