Oncolytic virus therapy is a therapy product that was created by Cell Genesys and it is used to destroy cancer cells in the human body (Craver and Darden, 2013). This has benefited our human lives because our loved ones suffering from the disease have been saved by this discovery.

Discovery of the essential minerals, nutrients, and vitamins in foodstuffs

The discovery of the essential minerals, nutrients, and vitamins in various foodstuffs has enabled me to eat a balanced diet thereby ensuring that my body has what it requires for effective digestion. This discovery is important as it makes people aware that the body requires vitamins to get rid of diseases like scurvy and bleeding diathesis (Craver and Darden 2013).

The discovery of Mendelian inheritance laws

Mendel discovered in the inheritance law that separate genes for separate traits are passed independently of one another from parents to the offspring (Craver and Darden, 2013). This discovery is useful as it explains why we are linked to our parents and inherit most of their characteristics. Craver and Darden (2013) also stated that all the possible combinations of gametes formed from maternal and paternal chromosomes occur with equal frequency; this explains why we may resemble our parents in many ways.

The discovery of the role of oxygen in respiration and photosynthesis

The discovery of oxygen is useful as it shows us how oxygen is important in the environment, without it, we would not get food from plants, and we would die of suffocation since we need oxygen to breathe.

The invention of the microscope

The invention of the microscope was a useful discovery in the biological sectors, as microscopes help in observing the smallest components of animals and plants (Craver and Darden, 2013). Microorganisms are so small that they cannot be seen using the naked eye; the microscope is therefore used to view them. A microscope is also a tool used for diagnosing infections in hospitals.

Conclusion

Biological discoveries have benefited all human beings and without them, many people would have died of deadly diseases and a lack of important things such as oxygen, water, and food. Biological discoveries should therefore be encouraged to make the world a better place.
