Task: My story On a silent night when I was thinking of what I would do over the weekend, I overheard my father and mother conversing about my future. My surprise was how much attention they gave who I associated with, my education and most importantly the future. My thought of events when young was simple either issues were good or bad as I did not have a middle ground for reasoning. The belief made it ideal for me to meet all challenges and things around me. However, as I became a young man, things gained new shapes, and more colours came into light. Instead of the only black and white, I recognised, blue and yellow became apparent in my environment. In this respect, I was able to believe that life without motive and decision has more challenges to navigate. My parents tried to be good parents. They taught me what needed to be known about life. I logically broke down complex things in small pieces and far from simplifying, I learned important basics of being alive. At times life can be harsh, nonetheless, if one passes through a good learning and mentorship from parents, life can be a bed of roses. Certainly, the future holds good things for all people, but many fails to reach the peak of life because of the inability to learn proficient skills. Among the many things that expanded my knowledge, respect remains supreme. Respect for oneself, and for other people. When learning spelling, piano, cartwheels, I can feel bad, but not worse, because of respect. Additionally, the belief that if one does not respect himself, no one else can offer the same respect. If not wrong, I must have been six or seven when playing at my cousin’s house with his toys. His family was rich than mine, therefore, he had many more play toys than I did. Despite the friendship and respect, I liked his toys. Nevertheless, there was one toy I always wanted and slipped it into my side pocket when he went to the kitchen. I was overwhelmed to play with the toy, and I dimly sensed the reparations it might bring to the respect and friendship. The much happiness, however, did not last long as faced much guilt even at a tender age. I never enjoyed playing with the toy, and could not look my cousin in the eye. In this respect, I always knew I had stolen, and my opinion of myself betrayed my conscience. I had a difficult time facing or engaging mu usual friend. Although he noticed the difference, he was very suspicious but could not confirm anything. At last, his mother took me home, and when I arrived, I guiltily pulled out the doll and gave it back. As a parent, she knew of what was happening, but she thanked me while taking it and never spoke of it again. Since that day, I learned to gain self-respect before respecting others. Subsequently, accepting the strengths and weaknesses also forms the important part of making life better. The bonding mechanism also plays a powerful role in enhancing love. I have faith in respect because in its absence there is no kindness. Caring limits harshness, which ultimately does not encourage a wasteland. Devoid of respect, people become all enemies, with an occasional bridge to different friends. I am not flawless in my ways, but I try my best to respect others in the changing world. I appreciate people for trying and respect my parents for that matter. Apart from respect, I have also learned ardent lessons on responsibility. When young, children often sway into wrong activities and decisions because of insufficient guidance on responsibility; many do not know how to spread their beds, do family chores or even run simple errands. In this regards, I respect my parents for buying me a dog. If you want young children to gain responsibility, get them a pet. In my case, Scooby, my dog taught more on responsibility than any human. At eight, I convinced my mother, who loves animals, to buy me a dog. I loved Scooby as it taught me into taking care of others. I walked Scooby twice a day in snow, rain, or shine, same to an old-fashioned mailman. I brushed, fed, petted, and took care of him as he became my best friend. I learned to be accountable, just as original wisdom predicts. Scooby was beautifully and completely irresponsible, but I loved him for what he was. My former playmates were surprised to know the changes in me after having the new friend. Previously, all I ever wanted was to have my back scratched while watching the TV. In this respect, having a dog may have taught me how to be responsible, but Scooby taught me how to control life. Reflection On a daily perspective, people divulge into the business of asking questions. The inquiry into the meaning of life has been sought ever since humankind became capable of thinking. Same to this people, I have been in the process of making meaning out of life. Life is rather meaningless, as people exist together on this planet. However, before concentrating on human existence, the purpose of each individual person in the society plays an important role in life. As a child, I learned that people create goals for a good purpose. Most importantly, we all have a role in the society accosted by responsibility and respect. Above all, we choose our future and hence a purpose to live. Undeniably, the purpose of human existence may lack in a life, but through goals and achievements, each designs a purpose. The question of what one wants to be in the future greatly impacts in one’s life. However, it is how one lives his life that dictates the future. My dog and respect for others immensely assisted my life. Previously, I did not know what I wanted to be in life, as I did not have a purpose. However, life changed abruptly under my parent’s guidance. As I walked around my neighbourhood, nobody seemed to take notice of me. As I gained responsibility and respect for others, I got completely new friends and started to become more sociable. In this respect, I was able to learn that a homeless man may appear less than at the topmost of society with high hopes for wealth. In many instances, these objectives affect the rationality of what people perform. Certainly, this influences how people live, the decisions we make and most importantly, the future. Undeniably, life has many challenges and as a child, one does not have the moral and rational authority to change things (Gediman, John and Mary 61). Nevertheless, it is the role of parents and other people with moral authority to advise others. Among the many lessons, I have learned, I believe choices define one in the eyes of others. Conceivably, this is because, life is not pleasant in a hard world where one mistake changes the entire concept of life. It is a non-contested fact that an action can change how one think about yourself or the perception. For example, it can alter the actual physical appearance or mental activity. Generally, life has not been a problem; however, without the efforts from my parents I could not have reached the peak of my success. Most importantly, it is vital to bring into light how life is a cocktail different challenges. Notably, success, in defeating all challenges, relies on people’s ability to formulate objectives and abide by them. In many instances, people formulate various goals but fail to follow them because of non-commitment. I always hear people involved in accidents because of drunk drivers, children dying of starvation, and people dying of diseases such as yellow fever, and swine flu. In this respect, I believe that if people were to make efforts in life, things would be better. Many people tend to escape from their situations as a technique for solution. However, not known to them, success relies on facing the mountains and challenges. Certainly, this world could a better place if we could all reflect on the lives we want to lead on this earth. For example, Gandhi mentioned that if all people could sweep their doorsteps, then the entire world could be clean. Many are familiar with his story, as he walked the talk by leading many people into a revolution that delivered people from captivity (Gediman, John, and Mary 61). The strategic application of knowledge ensured that he led India to independence without violence contrary to other countries where violence was the only tool for deliberation. From this perspective, I believe violence is a idle way for people to unravel problems. for many people, it seems too difficult too talk things out with a person, taking a non-confrontational route, which lead to things like wars. Therefore, I am happy with the far have reached in enriching and achieving various things both in education and general life.
