The author focuses on the natural order of spaces. The attribute of the Museum of Arts is that it hosts historical artifacts and artistic elements that reveal the school’s heritage. The attribute of the library is that it offers a favorable reading environment free of noise and other interferences. One gathering space on Miami’s campus that is unsuccessful is the park near the library, which is not visible from the classes or the nearby streets (Whyte 19). As a result, the students use the park as idling dens where they can relax and waste time instead of attending lectures.

The other deficiency of this park is that it distracts the reading activities in the library caused by the idlers’ noises. It would be essential to improve the park to make it useful, such as erecting benches and study tables. This would be important for those who would like to study outdoors or engage in other sporting activities like chess.
