Building a Dream House Introduction Owning a house is always a dream for many people, having a dream houserequires a lot of input in terms of making enough savings for construction and purchase of that particular house, getting the best architectural design as well as a convenient location. All these factors play a big role in meeting the kind of house that one has dreamt about for a long time. Very many real estate investors have established different kinds of houses for people to purchase, however, finding the best house goes beyond paying for the most expensive one, the particular house has to be in tandem with the features that one has. A dream house has to be designed to meet the preferred color schemes, locations as well as other special features (Ransom, 8). People should understand that it is possible to buy a house that does not have all preferences, but they can later make improvements on the house to meet the specifications intended. In this case, house improvements should not just be directed towards fixing a certain problem, the owner has to know that pampering a house is a daily activity (Smith, 7), there will always be preference for certain features in the course of staying in that house. The most important thing is to ensure that the value of that particular house remains intact. It is important to note that improvements in the dream house can be expensive in some cases, this means that the person who intends to have it must do it gradually, he needs to begin with areas that are most unpleasant to those areas which are sometimes unnoticeable. A dream house should always be designed to withstand various environmental factors; it should not expose the occupants to environmental risks. However, it is important to note that some environmental hazards are unpredictable and unavoidable, for this reason, people should always understand and derive better ways to handle them when they come. Nonetheless a dream house should be stable and conducive for its inhabitants in all seasons, whether it is in hot summers or cold winters Contributions of Eileen Gray to modern designs architecture Eileen is considered one of the most important and competent designers and architect of the 20th century, at the same time; she is among the women who are termed as most influential in this field. She has risen to become very much renowned and inspired many other people including modern approaches in design and architecture as well as decors for various types of property (Eileen. 4). Eileen started up her career amidst hard circumstances that would have made anyone rubbish her off. However, she persisted with her dreams, knowing that one time she would reach her dream. At one point, a British magazine made a description of Miss Eileen’s work, it quoted that her work was largely being influenced by modernist approaches, by then; Miss Eileen was just a lacquer artist. Eileen is known to have fled from her house in Paris in order to seek refuge in London during the First World War (Peter and Eileen, 34). She developed an interest in art and sought to pursue it as her career. Later, she developed her skills to become a skilled designer as well as an architect, this was quite a challenging time because many of the designers and architects in the industry were male, it was hard getting acceptance in the market, but soon she became independent, unshaken by the concern of having to operate in a male dominated career (Caroline and Eileen, 56). Many of those who interacted with her say that her style of design was quite unique; she took a luxuriant approach on the various forms of geometry and developed materials that were later used by different international style designers, not only in Britain, but also in other countries (Penelope and Eileen, 24; Stewart and Eileen, 12). She was fond of voluptuous leather as well as tubular steel that she used to come up with classy chairs, which are still being used in most of the current international styles in architecture and design. In as much as Eileen had risen to become influential in design and architectural industry, she was still downgraded to mere obscurity (Stefan and Eileen, 44), however, her work and classy architectural designs have continued to remain relevant in modern practices of architecture and design. We have had many other architects and designers showing up in the past few decades, each of them is trying to develop his unique styles that can trail blaze the industry. Contributions of Jean Nouvel to modern Designs in architecture One of the designers and architects that cannot be ignored is Jean Nouvel; this is a renowned designer and architect who has specialized in making of various architectural projects following the Arabian style and approach. He has been able to build many projects in different cities across the world and received great praise for his designs that have been loved and preferred by most governments and individuals. Nouvel has expressed in interviews that some of his architectural works include the office tower, which is found in Doha, Qatar, another of his design is the Louvre Abu Dhabi. In making up his architectural designed, Nouvel says that he integrates the abstractions and geometry aspect of the traditional architecture of the Islam origin into the designs that are adopted in modern approaches of design and architecture. He also emphasizes on the importance of context in making up architectural designs (Philippe and Eileen 17). He says that he does not only consideration to context as a site, but rather approaches it as a wider cultural and historical concept. He also points out that an architect is not meant to impose his values to the people, instead, he should be sensitive to their preferences and styles, that is the only way to establish designs which puts him on the list of most skillful and competent designers. Making people’s dream houses has always been at the heart of designers and architectures, yet some of them do not this expectation. These two architects compare in different ways, first, they seem to have a similar approach on preference for certain kinds of materials in coming up with designs in Architect. Eileen concentrated on using materials that most people did not consider important, but later brought important contributions in the architectural industry. On the other hand, Nouvel integrated tradition Arabic designs in making some of the state of the art designs that are evident in many cities. This means that an architect should try to come up with a style that makes his designs exceptional. Considerations in making a dream House Environment and color considerations The physical location and environment where houses are constructed is an important consideration when building houses. Many people have been seen to give preference to those environments that are serene; giving the occupants those houses the privilege of enjoying the beauty of the natural environment. At the same time, there are those who give preferences to those houses that give them opportunities to enjoy certain kinds of leisure like swimming, for them, they prefer establishing their houses close to the sea or natural sources of water. This means that architects and designers should be keen to understand people preferences before coming up with certain architectural designs. People’ preferences and locations largely determine the materials to be used in making architectural designs. Color is also an important consideration and preference for most people. Color is an important element in architectural designs; in fact, it is a cultural issue which people give prime importance. It is a general observation that people’s color preferences cannot be similar. The colors that are used in a particular house should always match the environment in which the particular client wants to stay. Currently, many companies have come up to provide color solutions in the development of houses. Architectural designs have to be accompanied with excellent and colorful finishing for attracting and appealing to clients. Designers should be keen on the kinds of color schemes that people give preferences and priority. These are important and essential considerations that people give for their dream houses. Building Materials The ability to effectively comprehend and thoughtfully incorporate different materials and preferences gives a certain kind of physical presence imaginations and creativity of architects and property designers. It is important to note that structures can actually exist in concepts and patterns, but when the real elements that make up actual house are missing then the building is as good as being non-existent. Currently, the building and manufacturing has been on the forefront exploring and establishing the specific materials that are relevant and applicable to different architectural designs. It is important to point that modern advances in technology have had and continues to hold a big influence in the architectural industry (Phillipe & Eileen, 8). In order to enhance creativity and professionalism in the architecture industry, various schemes have come up to honor and acknowledge the works of different architects and designers, for instance, the A+ Products + Materials award, which appreciates the use of innovative materials in the development of any architectural design. Different companies that make building materials have the tendency to research and incorporate different forms of creativity and innovations in their processes. For instance, the product line at DuPont’s Corian Company has been seen to shift to making of applications specifically for interiors and exterior designs, originally, the company used to make building materials that were suited for kitchen counter-tops. These materials have gained acceptance in the market by most architectural designers. The materials are best suited for providing reliable solutions to many design issues which architects face in their daily activities, at the same time; they are known to add elements of durability and versatility to buildings when used. The same trend has been seen in the materials which are being developed by Evocative, the building materials developed by these company were brought about in order to replace plastics and other non- biodegradable materials. The products being developed comprise mainly of fungus, which makes them appear natural and ecological. In fact, these products are biodegradable and suitable for use in civil engineering chores; this developed has brought about a range of various possibilities in the development of building and construction materials. Conclusion Building a dream house requires has an interplay of many considerations. People are always keen on most of these factors in order to ensure that they are in tandem with their tastes and preferences. However, it should be understood that any house can be modified to fit a person’s preferences, if someone can buy a house that is not equivalent to the one that he intended, he can make improvements in its features until it fits his preferences. The enhanced innovations in building and construction materials as well as modern designs have largely influenced modern architecture, making it easier for people to access their dream houses.
