Extract of sample "Hybrid Buildings"

The traditional forms of architecture involved building homes using common materials such as cement, steel, and sand amongst other materials. However, with time, there has been a lot of human encroachment on arable land and the greenery in the environment is fast disappearing. This has brought a huge problem with industries constantly filling the air with toxic gases and polluting our natural waters. With the advancement of technology, the greenery in the environment and care of the environment have been brought back to life with the creation of hybrid houses (Joseph 10).

Ancient hybridity began with homeowners using animal skin amongst other animal and nature products to beautify their homes. Hybridity also began with experiments on human beings by cross-culturing different genes. It was later that this concept was brought to the design of homes such that homes in urban areas could have the richness and wholeness of nature (Joseph, 35). Homes in urban areas also laced space to extend their gardens and some architecture went as far as placing magnificent gardens on rooftops. The cost of land has continued to soar to sky-high prices hence people have less land to beatify their compounds (Joseph 20).

Programs have been developed to help make office space have auditoriums to enhance the greenery of the environment. Buildings serve more than one purpose such as office buildings having car parks too and even malls being developed to house various activities such as housing exhibition halls, hotels, clubs, swimming pools, and libraries, among others. Making buildings multi-functional has helped ease congestion on land and reduce the cost of acquiring separate spaces for other activities (Joseph, 30). Many hybrid types have been and are still being developed. It is this ingenuity of architects that will help transform this century into something admirable for future generations (Joseph 40).
