The middle class was able to support the growth of the cities. As such, industrialization is a prerequisite for ensuring the development of the Mega Urban Region (MUR).
When we consider the growth rate of the cities, it becomes evident that Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh City experienced the highest growth rates, which do not seem to reduce in the future. The analysis of the two cities reveals that they have a highly dynamic inner zone.

The area experienced the highest growth rate regarding employment opportunities and population. The dynamism and development of the inner zone become driven by both the de-congestion process of the urban residential and production functions emanating from the core of the cities. As such, the internal zones have a higher chance for advancement, which may mean that the Shanghai MUR may continue expanding. When encouraging the growth of the Mega Urban Regions, I believe that people should relocate businesses and people out of the core. Such a move will also promote the development of the rural areas in the periphery of the cities, leading to further expansion.
