Use of Photography and Posters in Politics
This paper outlines the posters and photograph as the two forms of popular culture that are used in the analysis. The political statements, representations and imagining on the Hillary Clintons presidential run can be used to explain the two forms of popular cultures which were almost the same. The posters and music were used to serve the main purpose in the Hillary Clintons presidential campaigns where they were designed purposely to announce Hillary Clintons as the party’s presidential nominee (Wees 57). The posters and the photographs were the same in that they aired the negative stories about the Hillary Clintons which changed the people’s opinion on the success of her as the presidential run.
The two forms of popular cultures argued on the contrary whether Hillary could be the president and at the same time become the mothers which lead her to emotional anguish. The posters and the photographs referred her as Hillary rather than using the last name which greatly undermined her political image (Kiilerich 19). The two forms of cultures were used concurrently during the Hillary Clintons presidential campaigns to intimidate her since the other runner for the political seat was positively recognized by using his last name when calling him. The photograph were taken and displayed as the posters to show the Hillary Clintons impression. This was done because it sounded less professional to call her by her first name resulting to losing her presidential run.
The posters and the photographs differed to some extend while using them as the forms of cultures in political campaigns. The posters did not contain the photos of a politician running for a particular seat, but they contained a brief information about the campaigns’ platforms. The photography on the other hand was a mere photos of the politician’s impression and intention on a particular issue or merely a photo to sell his or her popularity. The photographs of Hillary Clintons were taken to show how she could win in the next coming elections. This has been done by summing up the problems which she has previously faced as the woman in the presidential run. The photographs have been posted in the social media accompanying the campaigns of Hillary Clintons as the US champion. This has been circulated in the Facebook, twitter and her campaigns website. The posters on the other hand will only be used when right time will be announced for the campaigns (Eckstein 144).
The main goal of using photography and posters as the popular culture in the political campaigns is to persuade a target audience since it is a form of visual communication which is mostly used by the politicians. During the elections, posters are used alongside the photographs to familiarize the candidates to the electorates and to attract them to vote for the candidates. The Hillary Clintons has once used the posters and the photographs to familiarize herself to the electorates and influence them to vote her as the presidential candidate. The photographs could be used alongside the posters to help the candidate to express his or her identity to the electorates and improve on the recognition from the electorates. The various inscriptions on the posters are made more visual through changing its background by making some of the features to be capitalized, bold and given different background color which will attract the electorate at the first sight. The posters and the photographs should be short, brief and precise to carry a motivational influence which could be of importance and appealing to the electorates.
Another political goal of using these political cultures is to meet the demand of the peoples through the candidate addressing his or her manifesto briefly in the poster and also including a piece of photograph on it. The politician ideologies are also expressed in the posters which are supposed to contain a simple sentence. The photographs should be designed in a way which attracts the electorates through putting of the different colors and also should bear the symbols which serves to familiarize the electorates about the candidate and his or her own party. The designing of the photographs also serves as the comparative instrument which is used by electorates to measure the candidate’s emotive sensation (Hill and Helmers 15).
The photographs and posters in most cases have a primary goal of portraying the candidate as having good qualities and if voted the qualities will also be maintained. They also express the nature of the candidate whether he or she is innovative and could change the society by using the innovative nature if voted by the electorates. The cultures will then serve as the campaign slogans which should be short, brief and precise to help in the attraction of the electorates and convince them to buy the candidates ideas and ignore or leave the other candidates ideas.
Political campaigns, posters and photographs are designed to attract, motivate, persuade, impress and entice the electorates and anybody who might see such poster. They are normally placed in a strategic places where the candidate can sell his or her ideologies, mission, philosophy and appeal to the electorates to buy them and change by making them to accept the political candidate (Cambridge Educational (Firm) and Films for the Humanities & Sciences (Firm), Films Media Group 67).
The posters and photograph expand our understanding of politics in general and also social movement in that they have brought the positive understanding of the campaigning. They bring the candidates and the electorates closer and facilitate an indirect communication among them. They also influence the way in which the politicians interact with the electorates and among themselves. The role of women in politics also is understood through these forms of cultures since they allow all the people to participate in political campaigns and create a room to be credited by the others. These forms of popular cultures explore barriers hindering the women in the political (Visual studies 31). This happens especially during the campaigns where they are neglected and misunderstood by the electorates. The form of popular cultures also helps us to understand the youth participation in the democratic life. The youth in this case participate in the publishing of the candidate by helping in the displaying of the posters and also participating during the voting.
The forms of popular cultures helps us to understand the democracy in the transition such that it sheds light to the both candidate and the electorates on the transition and change from one government to the other. This is evident from the posters and the photographs used during the political campaigns such that people are sensitized to vote wise in order to bring the positive change (Beaulieu et al 41). Nevertheless, posters and photographs expand our understanding of politics in general and social movement in particular by shedding an important light on how communication should be passed during the politics unlike using the media which can never reach all the electorates. The politicians and also the electorates have understood that they have an open platform where they can pass their political opinions, agendas and objectives through drafting a brief manifesto in the posters and to some extend in the photographs.
