The second part represents the film Samson and Delilah and is based on the main ideas and themes of the particular film, also the understanding of the way in which they are exposed is included. The third part introduces the film Hunt Angels and problems that are identified in this movie. And the fourth part deals with the series of Bush Mechanics and concerns its national aspect in the serial. The method used is particularized examination of the literature together with the critical summarizing and personal inferences on the topic. Still, we must admit that the situation with this question is unstable and changeable. As for the national audience it has achieved success and has become the highest grossing film in the Australian film industry for the 2010 year (Lynch, 2010). Moreover, Tomorrow has got a win in a number of awards concerning Inside Film Awards and Australian Film Institute Awards for the best film, scenario, soundtrack and actress, and it is not the full list (Lynch, 2010). However, the international audience has not fully estimated the film and its idea. Swift (2011) admits “its overseas results fell flat with the film grossing just $US140,707 on its opening weekend in the United Kingdom across 205 theatres, according to Box Office Mojo.” That is why we may affirm that Tomorrow When the War Began has not been apprehended by worldwide auditory in due course. The facts corroborate the situation that is emerged; still the reasons of such position remain to be different. Some people think that it is a business issue and film industry plays with such kinds of movies for the sake of money, whereas others are convinced that the matter is in the content of Tomorrow and a film discourse. Group discussions suggest the various versions concerning this problem and they all have a right to exist. Omnilab Media managing director Christopher Mapp said “It’s one of those films that got very close – everyone loved the film but it’s a challenge to get people to see it in the foreign territories” (Swift, 2011). I do agree with his ideas and fully sustain his points. The matter is that Australian film production is comparatively new business for that country. They can produce qualitative films in the XXI century; still it is not enough for the world market. Tomorrow When the War Began promotes serious problems to the audience. We may notice the problem of war that is considered to be central on the first glance. The relationship between people and the value of trust, loyalty, help and beliefs are regarded as the predominant in the movie. The reflection of Australian society and its drawbacks on the moral level are included to the context of the film. In addition, the landscape and placement, people and actions are concentrated and directed on purely Australian society. That is why film has deserved a high national estimation. If to talk about international level we must confess that Tomorrow has not enough power to become popular there. Foreign viewer’s attention may be drawn by high-sounded names, big advertisement or exclusive plot. People are absorbed by mass culture, and the film with famous actor or special story will deserve much more attention in ordinary viewer. Tomorrow is considered being a standard adventure story with a note of drama and based on projection an alternative society with an instructive aim. People see a big number of similar stories for the last ten years. That is why this story has not achieved big success in international film industry. 2) Samson and Delilah What ideas, themes and issues does Samson and Delilah examine? How are they explored? Samson and Delilah presents a wide variety of problems that concerns moral and material status of society that is described in the film. First and foremost, it should be mentioned that it is not an easy film, and themes that is raised in the story are remained to be complex and difficult. This movie provokes both eternal and provisional problems on different levels that belong to society in general and individuality in particular. We may argue that the principal ideas that are reflected in the film are love, kindness and cruelty, poverty, indifference, callousness and sympathy. All this themes are explored through major and minor heroes of the film, their actions, characters and moods. Two teenagers, Samson and Delilah, are in the centre of the story and, basically, storyline and major themes in the film are constructed around them. Boy and girl are experienced a kind of primitive life in “Aboriginal community” (Isaacs, 2009) with no chance to change something. They are consumed by routine of their drab and monotone life. Day after day they deal with the same things and no one does care about their lives. Producers show the audience a primitive society with a worthless existence and neglected entity. In addition, with a true portion of indifference Samson and Delilah get acquainted in a big city. They need to live near the bridge with some crazy tramp, and survive in difficult conditions as no one care about them. A routine of a huge and consuming society does not help them. It should be mentioned that this rude society is managed by the same brute rules. The moment of Delilah’s flogging by her relatives prove that idea. She has looked after her old grandmother and one day Nana has died. The relatives have put all blame on Delilah, and have considered that it is she who does not provide enough care for Nana that lead to her death. The punishment for young girl is remained to be ferocious. Delilah is beaten by her family members that are regarded as unmoral and base act. The theme of violence is also mentioned in the scene when Delilah has raped by local criminal band and has experienced ruthless suffering. This girl is remained to the most painful figure in the movie if to talk about physical pain. The theme of love is stayed in the line of essential points that is appeared in the film. Samson has strong feelings to Delilah from the very beginning, while girl understands her sympathy to him only in the moment of Samson’s dancing. He is ready to do everything for this girl, but all his life is “sniffing petrol, which alleviates his physical hunger and boredom, and trying to amuse himself” (Phillips, 2009). As a result in the moment of his confirmation in Delilah’s death he prefers to use drugs and isolates from all hurdles. The end of the story declares some hope for the better as Delilah has found a help represented by Samson’s brother. They have come back to their native land, and continued to live in a usual society that is generated by and for such people as they are. All in all, a number of deep moral and hard social problems are represented in the movie. Characters experience different hurdles that are created by the social norms and they are a part of this society. We may confess that they cannot change themself and they are in the place they deserve. 3) Hunt Angels Hunt Angels constructs the idea of an Australian film industry in crisis. What problems were identified in HA and who is identified as being at fault? Hunt Angels is regarded as a documentary film, a kind of historical overview to the beginnings of professional film-making in Australia. Still, it should be mentioned that elements of biographical story is also presented in the film. Those ideas evoke contradictory views on the film genre in critics. The film has released in 2006, still the directors move us to the late 1930’s (Stratton, 2014). The main heroes fight for the future and development of Australian film industry and overcome different difficulties in their way in order to achieve their goal. The matter is that the biggest hurdle in the way of Rupert and Alma is financial crisis of Australia in those times. The government position is remained to be strict and they straightforwardly announce that money should be invested in more reasonable problems. Economic depression together with hard financial situation has made film-making industry sinking. That is why Rupert has started to search for a financial support in additional sources. This man is considered to be cure that national film industry has a right for development and success. Moreover, he remains to be in love with film making and he intends to occupy only this profession. The second hurdle is presented by the Rupert itself. The matter is that he has some problems with police. That is why he should to be in search for financial support illegally. Alma is regarded as his friend, beloved and colleague, and she has helped him in all his affairs, starting from the cinematography to running from police. Nevertheless, this pair has success and makes a film. This is considered to be a result of hard work and countless efforts. Rupert and Alma overcome all problems and concerning crisis situation and illegal actions they achieve the goal. 4) Bush Mechanics Bush Mechanics was made under Film Australia’s former “National Interest Program” (NIP). Why do you think it was “in the national interest” to make this series? Whose interests are served and how? Bush Mechanics is perceived as a serial in a high national interest, and the audience must be completely agreed with such idea. These series is considered to the reflection of Aborigine’s life and society with a note of humour and magic. The basis of the serial is formed on five Australian aborigines who travel the Australia by car and experience different kind of adventures that are mainly connected with car (ABC, 2001). These men used to fix the car with some elementary and unusual ways that are considered to be rather unbelievable. Still, such episodes form the basis of the serial. The national interest is appeared through the many details and concepts of the Bush Mechanics. The matter is that we may appeal to any aspect of the serial as it is considered to be fully national. Starting with the landscape, people and language Bush Mechanics is created to represent the peculiarities of character and nature of Australian Aborigines and to demonstrate the problems of these people in implicit and easy-going or even humorous way. The setting of the Bush Mechanics is Australia with specific climate and natural environment that is peculiar to Australian world. Moreover, group of people travel through this land and have a special chance to observe all features that are character for native Australian landscape. As for the individualities of people that are screened in the serial they are entirely national, as these men are pure Aborigines and they live according to the rules of their society, but with a small madness that is regarded as a positive feature in the serial. They experience different comic situations and find an easy and sometimes ridiculous way out. Still, they are positive for the viewers and some Australian people may recognize themselves in those heroes. If to regard language it is fully concerns national aspect. The matter is that all series contain language of Aborigines with the help of which they are communicated with each other. The subtitles with the Australian English are accompanied all the dialogues. Still, the national point here stays on the high level. To conclude, it should be mentioned that Bush Mechanics is based on the national aspect that is on the huge interest of National Interest Programme.
