Murals are more eyes appealing considering their architectural design and their color combinations. The harmonious incorporation of the architectural design into a picture gives the spirit of place, activities involved and color tone variation gives a sense of the expected code of conduct. I find murals instilling self-discipline in the members of the society. Murals provide civic beauty, especially the ones designed for public places like coffee shops and recreational spots. They depict the aesthetic value of the activities involved in these places, they define the dos and don’ts of these places and generally they act as a form of civic education considering that these places are visited by people of varied age groups, economic, social, and cultural backgrounds, and education standards.

Murals are mostly perceived to have a dramatic impact but it’s a reflection of the past or the expected behavior. Literally, murals are meant to consciously influence the way people perceive certain activities in the society, challenge their attitude towards a place of work and societal elegance, and bring back fresh memories of achievement of the society, region, and/or individuals the society. For instance, murals of the former heads of state are designed with backgrounds to show the economic status of the United States at the time, their facial or body gestures on these murals creates a sense of historical touch and ownership and capture the historical regimes by the color tone variations, design and the location of the mural.

I find murals to greatly influence my values and the expected behavior in both public places/offices and private ones. Murals are appropriate in passing cross-generational information with time and to a society that is determined to retain its cultural, social, economic, and political relevance. Relevance is in the sense that the passersby and whoever sees these murals acquire a new perspective of the past time about the past time, code of conduct in different parts of the society, and the manner to retain the aesthetic beauty of a given region (Kennick 26).

Conclusion

Art has a motivating function in society as it serves as the cheapest mode of communication to convey social messages in an aesthetic and psychologically satisfying manner. Murals help in bringing the art to the public figure and despite the varied controversies on grounds of religion, political regimes, regional dissatisfactions, and personal judgments; they remain relevant in the transformation of society and the educative part of public arts.
