Matthew Broadrick Matthew Broadrick was born in 1962 in the of New York. His mother Patricia Broadrick was a playwright and a painter, while his father James Broadrick was a renowned actor. His mother is from a German/Jewish family, and his father had an Irish and English ancestry. Matthew Broadrick has contributed a lot to the art, music and film industry. This essay will examine in details, the history of Matthew Broadrick and his contributions in the field of visual arts and film. Broadrick studied acting at the New York upper-crust Walden School after missing from athletic and soccer hobby because of a knee injury that he had suffered. His father provided him with a stage at the age of seventeen in a workshop construction. His occupation grew majorly in two Neil Simon schemes that include the play, Brighton Beach Memoirs (1982 and 1983), and the famous film Max Dugan Returns, launched in the year 1983. He reprised the position of Eugene in the Biloxi Blues in the year 1988; he also participated in the second installment of the Simon trilogy, for both Broadway production and in the film adaption. In the third and the final installation of the trilogy, Jonathan Silverman replaced Matthew. He had his first big-screen success in the light comedy War Games in the year 1983 (Mecchi 1). He produced some of the best films that happened to be among the great hits in the film industry that include Project X (1987), which starred Helen Hunt whom he dated, Inspector Gadget in the year 1999, addicted to love in the year 1997. He has also appeared in other films that include Out on a Limb in the year 1992, the Night We Never Met in the year 1993, The Road to Wellsville in the year 1994, and The Cable Guy in the year 1996, which he produced with Jim Carrey that gave him The Best Fight award nomination. He had a car crash in year 1985, as he drove in Ireland with his beloved fiancée Jennifer Grey. In that accident, a woman and her daughter were killed. In that case, he was free but he paid a fine to the relatives of the victims. In the car accident, he broke his leg. He returned to the New York stage in the revivals of old show plays such as ‘show the public how to succeed in business without much trying (Mecchi 2). In the year 1996, Broadrick co-produced the Infinity. He worked with his mother, and she wrote the screenplay. He did not manage to succeed as a director. He married Sarah Jessica Parker, who is also an actress. In his life, he dated Lili Taylor and was engaged to Helen Hunt. Broadrick came back to Broadway in musical smash in 2001, which was based on Mel Brook’s film (1968). Broadrick received a nomination for a Tony Award for the best Actor in a musical. Broderick loved his mother so much to extent that he used to have dinner with her at their house on each Sunday even though he was married from the year 1981 until her premature death in the year 2003. Broadrick has two sisters both who are married; the elder sister Martha is a therapist and the young sister Janet is a minister. He loves most of the time to play ping-pong that he normally does with one of his childhood best friends, Kenneth Lonergan. Broadrick was the first person to play Alex Keaton that was on the sitcom Family Ties in the year 1982. He did this though he did not want to be committed to the long television run, and finally this role ended up being performed by Michael J. Fox instead (Rosenstone 335). His sister, who is a minister, happened to perform at both Broderick’s and Sarah Jessica Parker’s wedding ceremony. After his return to the producers in 2003, he receives a salary of$ 100, 000 in a single week. His brother Timothy Britten Parker to his wife, Sarah Jessica Parker, introduced Broadrick. He has won two very important awards in his life. In the year 1983, he won an award for being the best actor for featuring in the famous play Brighton Beach Memoirs and in the year 1995he was the best actor in music for the revival of how to succeed in a business without really trying. He happened also to be nominated as one of the best actors in the year 2001 that was in the Mel Brooks piece (Rosenstone 337). Broadrick was lucky to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6809 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, in 2006 in California. On 16 December 2005, it happened that Broadrick and his wife Sarah Jessica were launching a movie on the same day in the United States of America. Broadrick was opening The Producers while his wife was also opening The Family Stone. He studied with a very renowned Reiki Master in Brooklyn for several years. Reiki is a healing technique in Japanese where a master channels the Reiki, which is energy through a mere touch; this brings about strength in the patient’s own supply. Broadrick sang the song I Can Only Give You Love for his wife Sara at the age of 40, on his birthday (Rosenstone 338). He had an accident while he was riding a horse in which he broke a collarbone in county Donegal, Ireland in 2006. During this accident, he ended up in the Sligo Hospital, where he was released shortly after being treated. During this time, his wife was with him in the hospital. Broadrick studied Drama at the famous HB studio in the Greenwich Village in the New York City. Broadrick became a father for the first time after his wife Sarah gave birth to their first-born son James Wilke Broadrick when he was forty years old. He finally got his second and third born when he was forty-seven years old after his wife gave birth to twins.
