Salvador Dali; The persistence of memory 1931The persistence of memory by Salvador Dali is a painting that has attracted a lot of attention all over the world due to its unique form that draws imagination as well as teasing the brains of the observers. It is regarded as an attack to human rationality and attracts the theme of surrealism. The painting portrays time to be responsive to the environment as the clocks appear to be melting away probably due to the high temperatures of the surrounding area.

The painting presents an element of illusion since it is very difficult to identify the features which absolute accuracy. Surrealism advocates for irrationality as opposed to the common view that the world is rational place that only manifests in form of dreams. Objective reality exist in different forms and is based on how our brains are wired. Time is of great essence to human beings but the theory behind is beyond their comprehension. It was aimed showcasing the post war paintings as well as recognition of early painters in a bid to create a permanent memories. The artists wanted the negative impacts of war to be remembered by the generations to come so as not to fall in the similar trap again. Art played a key role in the emergence of a new human civilization. The paintings at the exhibition demonstrated diversity and uniqueness that was evident in the lives of the artists who had different backgrounds and believes. As much as the artists sought to transform the society, they needed to change their inner selves through their works.

Contemporary art has was made evident in the city of New York through the many galleries and museums that people could visit and have their lives transformed. Validity is deeply manifested in art through paintings. Unity which is evident by the lives of the artists as they worked and walked together, is a sign of selflessness as well as desire to restore human dignity.
