When I look at it, I feel the calmness of the moment. The water looks pacific; the sun is dark orange and the world is about to wake up. I can feel that it is still a bit chilly, but everything is going to change when the sun will be yellow and bright again. The colors used by Monet are a bit melancholic. The shadows of ships in the port look like ghosts of civilization and fishermen in their small boats seem to be the only alive creatures around.

I have seen sunrise only several times in my life, but my impressions are different from Monet's vision. This picture does not trigger my memory; yet, it has a powerful influence on the way I feel. It makes me concentrate on my thoughts and, perhaps, add some sad tint to them.
