Movie Analysis: Wolf of Wall Street Movie Analysis: Wolf of Wall Street The Wolf of Wall Street is a film behind Martin Scorsese. The film is totally shameless and abashed; nonetheless, it is may also be classified as interesting and exciting as well as exhausting the mind of the viewer. At some points, the movie disgusts and illuminates especially due to its incorporation of numerous unethical behaviors including abuse of sex and drug. However, it remains an interesting movie that has ever been drafted to depict the character traits of loathsome men. Notably, some action especially the nature of sex life in movie makes its setting to be similar with a time in history mainly defined within the Roman emperor (The Wolf of Wall Street, 2013). Therefore, in essence, Leonardo DiCaprio who is the star of the movie reflects the nature of men in the story Roman emperor Caligula. This similarity in the storyline especially the sex lives of these historical setting makes the movie an ethical into the contemporary society. Notably, Terence Winter adopted the Wolf of Wall Street storyline from Jordan Belfort, a stockbroker who succeeded in the stockbroking venture between the 1980s and 1990s. Belfort fortune into the business was a fortune that led him to earn status quo. Therefore, the film was pegged within this understanding, but the film seems to be highly exaggerated especially in the excessive pleasures that also seem to be bottomless. The film runs for three hours but it may interesting to watch for over hours; however, some scenes make the movie disturbing that elongate the time on such scene. The film is made up of characters from different background including low life and high life personalities. The mixture of this nature only tries to bring the film into the mediate societal context. For instance, Queens who raised Belfort were from middle class setting. These queens failed to elevate Belfort to his targets to his Wall Street dreams. This failure may be translated that more traditional ways of life cannot fit into the contemporary demands and successes (The Wolf of Wall Street, 2013). Alternatively, the successes achieved by most of the characters especially the main character is an indication that hard work and right strategies are the key successes in in life. Additionally, just like in the film where Leonardo DiCaprio reinvented himself by leaving a larger firm to start from smaller start, Matthew McConaughey got laid off in 1987 from the market crash. In this nature, he reinvented himself by moving to the Long Island where he made a penny stock boiler room and renaming his old money, Stratton Oakmont. This was done to regain confidence of the working and middle class inventors. Finally, on the characters, it is worth noting that the film employed over one thousand stock brokers with each being involved in issuing stock of more than $1 billion. This worth included an increase in equity for the company’s footwear. Nonetheless, it is worth noting that the vision of the film seems to be beyond cultural anthropology as well as antihero worship. Its noted from the film that everyone wanted to be on the top and has it is universal societal culture; everybody wants to be on top. Relating to the film and cultural deterioration, it is clear that the society within which the film is depicted was too much in addiction of what the society regard vices. In my own opinion, I think the film is acted with contemporary setting but using the 80’s ways of life. With the current diseases, emotions, and imaginations, changing the setting into the contemporary life and living standards, the life depicted in the film may not be a reality especially with demand of the bosses trying to keep their image. In the current market world, image is the business; therefore, a boss may never want to be depicted as an addict of either drug or sex or both since the same addictions may interfere with their business (The Wolf of Wall Street, 2013). Public image is vital since it reflects the sense of responsibility that come with proper management. Many often get contacts from entrepreneurs and bankers among other financial institutions and winning trust and competency will depend on the perceive responsibility of the CEO of a company especially when the CEO is the sole decision maker to the business. In other words, if it is perceived that the CEO is no longer responsible then his business is likely to fail (The Wolf of Wall Street, 2013). Therefore, persons who had hand is such business may end up losing a lot of their investments in the same venture. Hence, changing the setting of the film into the contemporary world especially business may have not elevated the protagonists in the film to heights depicted in the film. Other schools of thought may interpret this work not a story to success and the effect of getting too much too soon, but as a film that portray thieves who use phones and pens instead of guns. "Wolf of Wall Street" showcases how the persons behind the broking business made a lot of money within a short time. The money they made meant that other persons lost the same; therefore, depicting them as thieves. Additionally, the film reflects a lot of immoralities that are mainly associated with the money. Money led the main actors into sex and drug (cocaine) addictions (The Wolf of Wall Street, 2013). On the other hand, ladies who wanted quick money offered the bodily services in return for money. Finally, Scorsese’s family life changes drastically once he started making much money and separated with the woman he had during his suffering times. In other words, this film has a series of interpretation none of which may have positive lessons all through from the beginning of the film to the end. Moreover, the film, the Wolf of Wall Street, also has mixed reaction of being consider good or bad. It is good in terms of teaching the spirit of hard work that pays, but it is too bad in reflecting the effect of wealth.
