Section 1.

REP’s Anything to Declare is a French farce that is truly a very entertaining show. The action-filled comedy is full of life that can make any audience stand on their feet and recoil on their stomach due to boisterous laughter.  The experience I had with the comedy had me on my toes to capture every scene and appreciate the series of set-ups for every setting. The overall play and the entire production contribute to the unity of the comedy as it effectively produces the desired audience reaction-which is to make them laugh.

Section 2.

The set design that has been chosen by the production to display as the background for their play is truly imaginative, resourceful, and very creative. The production chose to use macaroni, Gemelli, shells, and other simple kinds of stuff to use as plasters for the interior decorations. They have been very resourceful in doing so since the effect that these little things did on the whole setting gives intricacy and creates depth that is most fitting for a royal family background. The props that are delicately hand-made by the crew include high vaulted ceilings, gallant Baroque columns, and other expensive-looking interior finishes. As the count groom and his bride had their scenes as the newly married couple, their elegant setting has supplemented greatly to effect giving the ambiance of a well-to-do French royal family. The splendor and the stunning combination of the tidbits of crafted props have indeed attributed to the overall effect of the play. Plus, the comedic idea of having this unexpected nitty-gritty to be used for decorations is a mirror of the humor that the play has intended to convey to the audience.  Anyone would be convinced of the authenticity of the materials used when seen from a distance. But when inspected on a closer look, they would be in awe and would have laughed at the thought of the detailed interiors to be designed as such. Overall the set-up was equipped, the play has gone successfully and effectively, and I bet, the budget sufficed.
