Through proper analysis, a scholar shall derive an understanding of the materials used in developing the art thus yielding a knowledgeable approach to discovering the background of the arts’ inspiration. ...
Socio-cultural theories These are diverse approaches to evaluating and describing artwork as they scrutinize it to derive its effects to the general environment. Mainly, the theorists and critics applying the socio-cultural approaches to establish the economic effects of the artwork, for example, whether it would lead to improved earnings on the artists and the reputation of the country or society at large. Further, the theoretical approach is elaborative on issues pertaining the ethics, beliefs and norms of the society (Scott 68). Therefore, it would be ill to allow the production of artwork that seeks to economically benefit the artist while causing a general harm to the society’s reputation and hindering the value held on ethics (Steil, and Aileen 95). At such a time when the ideal critic hinders the desired outcome of artists’ work, then there is application of the socio-cultural theory in evaluation of art. Though socio-cultural theories may hinder artworks, they derive credit as they lead to the approval of some of the pieces thus serving as advantageous to the pieces. The ideological approach is most crucial in challenging artists to reflect their work on positive themes rather negative ones (Blandy, and Congdon 77). For example, Giorgione’s “three ages of man,” and the “tempest,” and Titian’s artworks revolved around the culture established by their former mentors during the renaissance of Venice and Italy.
