Pablo receives recognition as the founder of Cubism movement and his revolutionary role in introducing new techniques of painting in Europe. Pablo received world attention for most his successful painting called Guernica. In the painting, Pablo employed commendable techniques in portraying a bombing scene during the German-Spanish civil war. Pierre (2009) asserts that Pablo features in modern painting classes as one of the founder of Cubism, which remains the most significant breakthrough in the art history.

Work of Art Throughout his work, Pablo strived to achieve the message of creating a distinction between vanity and reality. The artist employed different styles in order to develop an emphasis between vain and actual human images. Within the painting in subject, Pablo adopted cubism styles in an effort to develop a relationship between fantastic and the observed world. In the process, the artist succeeded in depicting the girl’s different images; hence providing the desired meaning supposed to illuminate the world.

According to Umland (2012), his main intention was to achieve an effect of disjoint time sense within a single painting. In this case, Pablo strives to create a temporary flight of time from the conventions of realism within the viewer’s mind. Throughout his work, Pablo utilized the fundamental principles of Cubism in all paintings. In this context, Cubism refers to an artistic movement that originated in Western Europe in the 20’TH century. . Cottington (2004) says that the movement believed in integrating different styles to represent an object from multiple angles.

In this case, Cubism acknowledges the need of creating a painting with consideration to the three-dimensional nature of the universe. In the process, Cubism artists, especially Pablo, developed paintings comprising of broken pieces all appearing assembled into adjacent planes. Consequently, the adjacent planes create distinct edges depicting both the elements of perspective and depth. According to Cottington (2004), Cubism movement allowed artists to represent individual paintings from different angles as opposed to representing from a one-dimensional style.

Subject Like most of Pablo’s work, Girl Before a Mirror falls under the subject of human perception. Pablo depicts different images of the girl standing before a mirror. In the first image, the artist paints a girl with a beautiful and straight face. This represents human perception during daytime. However, the adjacent face shows dark contours on the woman’s face. This represents the dark or undesirable side of human physical appearance. In the process, the artist depicts the girl as having achieved a sense of self-consciousness.

In this regard, the painting fits into the subject of perceptions and conventional realism in human beings. Painting Style Pablo employs the disjointed time sense style in communicating the intended message about the girl. Disjointed time sense style derives its roots from Cubism principles of modernism. Rotzler and McCoriry (2010) postulates that Cubists focuses on creating multiple dimensional paintings as opposed to plane images of classical art. In this case, the Girl before a Mirror
