These led them to fantasize and made them wander in a technological utopia that over indulged with robotics and artificial intelligence. History proves what Jules Verne and H. G Wells dreamt through their writings more than 100 years before, came true in successive periods. The previously mentioned futuristic visions regarding humanoids seemed very promising but somehow anti-utopian thoughts also came to light with the fear and anxiety of artificial intelligence turning human race into slaves to become the ultimate ruler of the world (Rabkin, 79).
With these ideas many Sci-fi genre films were made during that period, e.g. The Terminator (1984), Terminator: Judgment Day (1991), Matrix (1999) etc. (Babenko, 1; Matheson, 326) The present paper leads a systematic review of the film Matrix, which is the first film of Matrix Trilogy. Before moving into details and analysis of the movie, it would be beneficial if a brief introduction of the associated people with this film is given in a tabular form. (Babenko, 3) It unfolds that people created artificial intelligence and robots during the early years of 21st Century. The robots were used tirelessly as simple workers and treated inhumanely by the humans.
One day a machine named B1-66ER started a revolt by murdering its master. This led to riots and the machines made peaceful protests for respect and better treatment. But the human race acted with violence and started to deactivate these peaceful robot protestors. The machines escaped to a safer place and named their nation ‘01’ (Zero One). The number ‘01’ also have some special significance that is they are basic units of binary numbers. Whole of the artificial intelligence idea started with these two units (Zero and One).
So, it is justified that the machines named their nation as ‘01’ and took oath of a new beginning that will eventually turn them into a superior race than their human counterpart. Owing to its oval shape zero is often considered as an indicator of infinity again 1 always occupies the first spot among numbers. Together they create a domain that is governed by infinite perfection. This is also supported by the facts that nation ‘01’ showed rapid technological advancement and became the economic leader as depicted in “Animatrix”.
The Nations of the world boycotted ‘01’ from being a member of UNO (United Nations Organization). The utopian outlook that once fuelled the technological developments; making machines equally if not more intelligent from their human counterparts suddenly gave a psychological backfire. This stance of the
