The paper "What Forces Effect on Senior Managers’ Decision-Making Process" is an outstanding example of a tourism research paper. The travel and tourism industry is among the oldest and largest industries in the world, and the industry has seen outgrow most other industries the world over. Globalisation has led to an increase in travelers across the globe and to meet additional demands for accommodation and food, hotels and motels have sprung up in developing countries. The growth of industries has been synonymous with the growth of the hospitality industry. The number of star category hotels have risen quite astonishingly in these countries, mainly due to industrialization and increased flow of the floating population.
Each hotel is unique in itself due to the various decision-making policies of its managers, and a lot has been written about the strategies adopted by the respective hotel managers in promoting their hotel as the best. ‘Decision’ is best described as the move to instigate an action that could bring laurels or risk. Hospitality industry managers are on their toes all the time. The industry calls for decision-making at all levels within the hotel and managers must be prepared to decide what is right and wrong for the hotel and its stakeholders.
2.0Literature Review
Teare and Olsen (1992) said that socio-cultural dimensions helped to define the attributes of society and aid the hospitality manager in interpreting how his or her business will be affected by social and cultural changes. Of utmost importance is the interpretation of how these changes influence preferences for products and services as well as consumer demand. Ultimately, this trend has a direct bearing on the decision made by the hospitality organisations. The United States for example has a very strong socio-economic and socio-cultural heritage. Americans spend a lot of their money on food and social activities. It’s the same with most western countries, where the spending power of the consumer is high. The same cannot be said of developing economies. Senior managers need to address these aspects to bring about a change in their business output. This is one side of the story. The establishment that is run by these managers must be able to attract clients through proper managerial qualities (Teare and Olsen, p.13-15, 1992).
