The Mobile Use Adoption Among the Youths: Name: Institution: Date: The Mobile Use Adoption among the Youths The use of mobile phones among youths has consistently increased over the past years, and this news reportedly goes down well with mobile companies who in turn strive to produce more to meet the users’ demands. This is because the use of cell phones is no longer limited to making and receiving calls as it used to be a couple of years ago since the current models come with some features which were not there in the past. This task, therefore, seeks to discuss the possible reasons why youths are taking the lead with regards to mobile phone usage. The current phones are endowed with some features which were not there in the initially. The young adults are more fascinated with these functions compared to their adult counterparts, and that is why they utilize the services more than the adults. For instance, the internet which gets more use from youths compared to adults. The internet is a service which is mostly used by teens because of some reasons. First, young adults use the internet to search for information about a given field of study (Chan-Olmsted et. l., 2013). Most youths are engaged in learning at different levels of education. Some are in high school, some in colleges and some in the university. They, therefore, need the internet to research in their various fields of study. This makes them use the internet more than adults since the number of young adults pursuing education outweighs that of adults. The task is based on a qualitative research method I specifically conducted with regards to this. The usage of mobile phones by young adults has been a debate for some time now and to get to the bottom of this issue; I conducted my research to get to know why the youths like mobile phones and very fascinated with whatever the new design a company releases. Afterwards, I compared my findings with what the leading research firms had earlier produced and consequently came up with a conclusion. Stages of the Interview Thematizing- the main aim of conducting the research was to find out why the youths use mobile phones more than adults. The research, therefore, targeted both the teens and the adults with a view of coming up with a comparative analysis afterward. Designing- I sampled very easy questions which met my interest and went through them to ensure I would eventually get the information I needed. I did this bearing in mind that the issues were not testing on intelligence but rather to give me the information I needed. Interviewing- since I carried my interview within a world-class university, I was fortunate to get ten students from different parts of the world. They would then represent their respective countries. I also got eight men who, unlike the students, came from the same country. I then asked them the questions I had earlier sampled, and the answers the adults gave me were either similar or closely related. This was exactly what I got from the youths. Analyzing- afterward, I analyzed the information which I had obtained from them. The analyses are in the main discussion bellow. Result- from what I observed, youths like mobile phones compared to adults and this is further discussed in the main review including the analysis. This is what I got from my research. To begin with, the mobile phones have social media apps which are very popular among the youths compared to adults. Cell phones are endowed with apps like Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp. It is crystal clear that teens use these apps more than adults. According to Pew Research Centre, 71% of youths worldwide, 52% used Instagram, 41% used snap chat, 33% used Twitter, another 33% used google+, 24% used vine, 14% used tumbir and 11% used other social media sites. This was a report Pew Research Centre released in the year 2014. From this information, it is clear that youths use social media more than adults. They either use social media to socialize with their mates or to obtain information (Lenhart, 2009). This is because social media is fast and reliable enabling someone to get information from all over the world very quickly. Besides, the current mobile phones come with some extra features which are likely to appeal to the young adults more than they would appeal to adults. For example, the music gallery in the mobile phone is highly used by young adults compared to adults. This feature to be precise agrees with their age and is compatible with them more than it does with the adults. The music gallery in these mobile phones is, therefore, enough to lure the youths into buying the phone. Most adults idealize music, especially the contemporary one, as out of their age bracket and therefore do not meet their interest at all. Youths on the other hand like music so much. This explains why most youths like mobile phones, especially the ones endowed with the modern features. It is common to see teenagers walking down the street with headphones and earphones while it is very unlikely to meet an adult doing the same as they consider it frivolous and weird. They, therefore, opt to listen to music at their homes. Mobile phones are also used among the youths to get news. Different types of communication are availed on the internet and one can, therefore, read them online at an affordable cost. Whether it is political news, sports news, international news, business news, weather focus or any other form of news can now be accessed on the internet, and it is youths who enjoy these services most (Chan-Olmsted et. l., 2013). This is because most of the adults are still analogue compared to teens who are viewed to be digital. The need to read news online is also not very much embraced by the adults because they prefer reading news on newspaper to the internet as this can be kept for further reference. Mobile companies try to take technology to a different level by including some apps which can support reading of any written material online, but this majorly benefits the young adults only as the adults have the option of seeking second-hand information from the youths or looking for the paper. When discussing mobile news adoption, it is important to consider the factors which affect them. They include the interplay between mobile news and other traditional forms of news sources. Technology slowly influences communication platforms and with the fast changing level of technology, the traditional platforms are disadvantaged since most people are currently embracing technology as it is viewed as rapid and reliable (Kim et. l., 2007). Those who subscribe to technology, therefore, swell in number as those who still use traditional forms decrease in number. The mobile phones which were initially manufactured lacked most feature like radio, camera, social media apps like Facebook, the internet among other settings. Today these phones are not easy to get even in the markets because technology improved and people started demanding mobile phones which could meet the standards of technology and not the outdated ones. Another crucial factor is that they are cost effective. Apart from the affordable price of buying the mobile phones, the internet is also cheap and very affordable (Sultan et. l., 2009). When someone can read a whole book on the web, there is no need of buying that but at an expensive cost. This takes into consideration that fact that society is comprised of all classes of people. Upper class, middle class, and lower class all deserve to get information, and when information is availed so expensively then it is the wealthy who benefit, but when information is availed at an affordable cost then it benefits all classes of people in that society. Mobile phones, therefore, help the rich and the have-nots as they are very affordable. Their technology advantage is another significant factor which affects mobile news adoption. Cell phones notify the users at the drop of the news and the user always stays updated for that matter. Besides, it is ever online meaning the user gets the news instantly unlike in other forms where the user is constrained to wait for a long period for him to get in touch with the news (Ling and Haddon, 2008). This is imperative more so in this time where eventualities characterize the world. For instance, when there is terrorism act in the neighboring country the user will be alerted instantly unlike in the past days when information could reach someone even after a whole week. When someone can have a gadget which drops news the moment it occurs then that device is said to be not only reliable but also very efficient as well. Another factor is perceived utility and ease of use. It is very true that people will always buy what they can comfortably use, and therefore, people will buy mobile phones if they know how to use them. Some people, however, learn to use them upon buying them but in most cases, it is those who already know how to use them who will buy them. These people fear buying them because they think using the mobile phones will be tough. They also fear they might not fully understand how to use them once they buy them turning them into bothers to other people. This, however, is not true because operating a mobile phone is very easy and most people using them presently did not know how to use them at some point (Katz and Sugiyama, 2006). Another factor is consumption and preferences. The consumers, in this case, are the customers who use the mobile phones. It is very crucial that the companies produce phones of their choice since it is their obligation to protect the interest of clients. The preferences of customers have also been changing with time since they also have their expectations to meet. In conclusion, the current mobile use adoption among the youths is a significant reflection of the growing level of technology and the need to embrace the digital media. The involvement of young adult is also encouraging since it shows that shortly the whole world will have made a significant stride towards advancing in technology.
