TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION By Student’s name Course code and name Professor’s name University name City, State Date of submission Intelligent Transport Systems Evaluation Traffic safety and road congestion is a crucial factor in controlling the contemporary economic and social development, due to its potential serious consequence on the normal lives of the people. Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) are aimed at achieving an efficient incorporation and interaction of data communications, information technology (IT), computer processing technology, electronic control technology, and sensor technology. So as to attain an operating efficiency of the transport system, minimize the road carnage, minimize environmental pollution, so as to achieve an efficient, safe, environmentally friendly as well as comfortable integrated transport system. The basis of an efficient traffic management and control system is its ability to provide accurate and reliable traffic information. Existing traffic control systems have been relying on camera, radar, induction coils and many more analogue systems. These systems have had some restriction in terms of their utilization and deployment such as cost, accuracy, convenience, environmental adaptability, and ease for large-scale deployment and technological update. Vehicle Traffic Monitoring Platform with Bluetooth Sensors The will incorporate system integrators to form real time systems for creating and controlling both pedestrian and through the utilization of the Bluetooth and radio feature. The new solution will form part of the ambitious smart cities traffic solution. The systems seeks to incorporate a platform capable of sensing movement of particular Bluetooth devices within a part of city, a given roadway, passageway and street. Research Issues The research issues that may be faced by this solution include the test areas as most of the roads are in use apart from the night. Simulations either are not applicable to this physical problem as seen in the past research that was carried out by the U.S department of transportation research and innovative technology administration (2013). There are indications that this is a crosscutting research that seeks to bestow responsibilities and roles upon the stakeholders involved with road matters. The financing of such researches on the other side require massive funding and strategic partnerships in order to realize the final product. Issues such as intellectual piracy and institutional issues are likely to emanate mid-research. Means of mitigating these issues have to be put in place before commencement to further avoid technical issues that may erupt during the testing stage. Trends Current state of play with this technology Recent governments’ activities in the in the area of Intelligent Transport System (ITS) such as the US has been focusing on homeland security involving surveillance of passageways and roadways. Currently Intelligent transport systems have been inbuilt in cars right from manufacture such as inbuilt navigation systems, and signal control systems.m On the roads cameras have been installed in form of speed cameras, automatic number plate recognitions, as well as CCTV systems. Probable future developments Future technology will focus on creating cooperative systems that will incorporate appropriate system algorithm and database comprising of multi- lane, multi- road and multi-vehicle systems thus offering efficient traffic management systems. Such communication technology systems will create an interface between car-to-car, car-to-infrastructure and data collected is transmitted to a central server for processing. Design and Transformation Intellectual Transport Systems The use of advanced solution for the purpose of demystifying problems facing human transport has been seen in most cities around the world. The usability of these systems has however remained challenging even to those who are supposed to execute them. This brings in a suggestion that intelligent transport designers should start using interfaces that are well understood by users. The current integration of technologies within the road monitoring systems has seen a drastic improvement in the way that the chaos on the roads is being approached. These plans have also helped the users in making choices on the roads to travel on in advance or before they engage themselves in traffic congestion (Sussman, 2005). Apart from highway decongestion programmes, the introduction of a digital technology shall be able to curb rogue drivers who are a contributing factor to carnage and other commuting atrocities. Apparently, the digital technology that is proposed in this article shall approach this programme in a different perspective in that it shall require compulsory incorporation of radio communication sensors, a proper user interface and dedicated programmes designed to interface between the traffic management systems and the vehicle occupants. In so doing universal operating systems shall have to be incorporated in the traffic management systems and vehicles in order to enhance communicability and compatibility towards updates and seamless information transfer. Incorporation of globally acceptable operating systems such as android, windows and iPhone OS shall lay an open platform to software developers for further software development and application boom with a view of curbing congestion and rogue drivers. Systems that are deemed as basic such as speed monitoring for purposes of rogue driver apprehension and road status shall however be made mandatory within the vehicle digital operating systems meant to offer effective communication to the transport management systems for blacklist or even reporting to the parties involved with taking disciplinary actions, statistical backup and even the traffic update purposes. Research Issues Current state of Play According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (2013), the joint ventures among technologists aim at a connected vehicle technology as the main approach to interface compatibility and communication. Connected vehicle applications are also in the line of invention with harmonization, rather standardization in the minds of most technologists who have sought audience from government agencies for funding. They however do not put it clear on which type of operating systems that shall be applied in these ventures. Application of already recognized operating systems shall ensure that quick solutions are found in accordance to software architecture since there are already many developers salivating for such development opportunities that can make human commuting easy. Conclusion Solution design especially with regard to technology integration requires imaginative approach towards the problems currently facing humanity. The intellectual transport systems for example are undergoing an evolution that shall see congestion and the wrath brought by rogue drivers eliminated. This discussion above suggests that standardization of communication interfaces and even incorporation of renowned operation systems be done as a way of eliminating these difficulties. This shall attract a large following from cross-cultural divides in coming up with innovative applications that are meant to deal with the identified interface problems as a means of improving road safety.
