A defining moment for design was the introduction of digital media, which has significantly influenced the way we receive, impart and process information. Technology has presented new opportunities, not only as a design tool but also as a means for exploring informational, spatial and experiential possibilities.
This topic was selected due to the transformation being experienced in the designing in relation to the use of digital media technology. Designers have embraced the use of technology in their work through the use of digital media technology tool. It is therefore important to explore the role and the impact of digital media technology among various designers. In addition this topic is important due to the changing trend globally of incorporation of technology by various designers in their artistic works.
Introduction
Design work is considered as a multi cultural dimension that involves various aspects of culture within the societal setting. The advent of technology plays an important role in terms of international graphic and design. Technology has therefore brought about various design styles that has taken the works of designers to a different level. Designers engaged in the use of computing technology in respect to various design styles that have attracted individuals across the globe. Garry Emery is considered as the father of design with the use of the latest technology in a bid to create various styles and topography of different audiences of people. Evolving technologies in the modern world have greatly revolutionized the design industry in the sense that there is great use of media technology in designing various styles by varied designers. Andy Warhol is considered as a big name in the designing industry. He has successfully engaged in designing various styles that have been recognized worldwide. Hence as a business partner a lot in regards to digital media technology will be reflected as a result of many years of experience in the industry. The essay there aims at exploring how new technologies have been incorporated into designing among designers. In addition the paper will discuss the role of technology in design art (Besser, 1997).
Technology and design
Digital technology or media has greatly revolutionized how designers engage in their work in the creation of various styles in their work. Digital media is therefore considered as important in the way various information is distributed, received, manipulated or absorbed. Hence digital media has greatly influenced the general work of designers and ways through which their work is presented to varied audiences. In order for designers to survive the digital revolution several factors must be considered and other business models should be embraced. The first thing that will improve traditional design methods is the increase from use of one platform to multi-platforms. These are digital platforms and include mobile, web and video. The use of modern technology in the design industry has been considered as an important aspect by designers of different (Watkins & Angelina 2007).
In order to understand the role of media technology in design there is need to explore the meaning of media technology. Media technology comprises of a range of technologies ranging from robotic to biotechnology that is engaged by various designers in their work. The use of media technology has greatly influenced art and design in the recent times. Digital media therefore involves the type of technology that allows for dissemination and storage of such information in a digital form.

Innovations and ideas are therefore based in the use of a particular form design with the incorporation of technology to match the needs and desires of clients within the context of design industry
In relation to environment design and technology offers the development of various forms of modern technologies. Thus the impacts of the modern technology involving various designs should be considered while creating awareness on the need to protect the environment. In the environmental perspective designers need to effectively consider the costs, resources and ecological impacts of their work or designs. Within the partnership with Andy Warhol environmental and ecological aspects will be considered in the use of technology to create artistic designs. In addition, the type of technology to be engaged by the designers will be evaluated in terms of the impact of the use of the selected technology to the environmental and ecological setting of the community at large (Stuckey, 1989).

Design and technology experts who are considered as designers engage in designs that cut across various cultures globally. The use of technology designing artistic work acknowledges the diversity of individuals in relation to varied forms of designs. The diversity is therefore embedded within the cultural orientation of various individual. The use of designs assists in bringing out the different cultural orientations of individuals with the use of artistic designs. In relation to the design partnership the issue of cultural diversity plays an essential role in production of various design works. My partner Andy Warhol as an American artist and designer is regarded to posses different cultural orientation in relation to myself. Hence the aspects of the use of technology in the diversity of culture should assist in highlighting the difference in culture within the partnership. Hence it is only through the use of technology in various artistic designs that the cultural diversity of different designers is able to be highlighted. Every design work should therefore reflect the cultural perspective of the culture within which the artistic work is made (Cooper, 2010).
In order for the design industry and designers to survive the digital revolution several factors must be considered and other business models should be embraced. The improvement of traditional forms of design is the increase from use of one platform to multi-platforms. Additionally, designers should engage in the process of embracing the use of digital technology in their work due to the global transformation in regards to the use of technology in design industry. As a result of various innovations being made globally in the design industry it is important for designers to actively engage in the use of technology according to customer’s tastes and preferences. These are digital platforms and include mobile, web and video. The future of design industry is seen in the use of texting, online posts, and blogs, crowd-sourcing and non-profit media. The partnership with Warhol will therefore engage in the improvement of traditional methods that were used in designing while incorporating technological innovations such as digital media technology in their work so as to offer global consumer satisfaction (Lunenfeld 2000).
Digital technology is considered as important in terms of its effects on arts and design. This has led to greater opening in terms of public engagement with design and artwork. The digital media is considered as ever evolving with rapid form of developments. In addition interest on digital media is rapidly growing among designers as their work is mostly influenced by digital media technology. Artistic and design disciplines possess varied dimensions in terms of their relationship to digital form of technology. The ways through which designers engage in the creation, production, distribution and marketing of their work is heavily influenced by the media technology and advancement in technology as a whole. This is attributed to the fact that society if transforming to digital era through the influence of various technological innovations and advancements (Watkins & Angelina 2007).

Journalism and its associated media are core factors in today’s society. They have an effect on the economic, social and political status of the society. The most worrying factor is the fact that the digitalization of the world is posing a threat to print media and consequently its future is unpredictable. Generally, newspaper reading has decreased as people rely on online news and newspaper websites. It is likely to die totally as more people rely on alternative sources for news and entertainment or have reduced sales to a specific minimum because some people wait for the morning paper. This fact is affecting the commercial mass media. The number of advertisements found in print media is highly decreasing while those on televisions and online media platforms are on the rise. The digitalization of media has therefore created other opportunities for such designers such as web designers that allow various products and artwork to be relayed to the public through the use of media technology such as websites and easy marketing of such products by various designers. Websites designing and marketing of various products is considered as an effective method of marketing products and disseminating information due to technological advancement and the fact that most individuals have shifted from traditional media methods to online platforms in relation to their work (Besser, 1997).
The use of newspapers is reducing due to digital revolution that has introduced alternative sources such as blogs, wikis, websites that not only relay news to the public but are an avenue of advertisements and entertainment as newspapers are. This has been caused by two reasons. As explained by Cooper (2010), usage of internet to communicate to the public reduces the production and distribution costs that are used in communication through the print media. This includes newspapers, books, cable systems and broadcast systems. An additional reason to the reduced usage of print media is the fact that the cost of producing the content has also reduced. On the other hand, using the internet for advertising and distribution of information has little or no production cost. In addition to this, advertisements are now done by websites and since newspapers mainly create revenue from it, some of these companies will start reporting losses as digital revolution continues (Lunenfeld 2000). The digital revolution in terms of media perspective has therefore favored designers who engage in the designing of various platforms that a company can use to disseminate information and reach its targeted audience. In arts the use of technology in designing has proved to be important as many companies seek to reduce their costs significantly while at the same time reaching the desired audience.
Within the designing industry there are various characteristics of digital form of media that play a significant role in influencing arts and design range of designers work. In terms of materials that are utilized by various designers there is great use of electronic materials as opposed to materials in their physical nature. As opposed to the past whereby designers engaged the use of painting or photograph in their various works for the existence of an artwork, the digital media technology allows the electronic use in terms of presentation of artistic or design work to the prospective audiences. In addition, designers engage the process of computer generated graphics in order to make presentation of their works. Andy Warhol as my prospective partner who has great experience in design work agrees to the fact that digital media plays an important role in design work and therefore the need to incorporate digital media in design and artistic works (Prensky, 2001).
The use of technology especially the digital media technology is preferred by many designers due to various advantages that is associated with its usage. The artwork that are constructed by designers with the use of digital media technology are mainly stored through the use of digital means and therefore are considered to save a lot in terms of space as compared to physical design work that has limited space in regards to the storage of the artistic piece of work by various designers. In addition the digital method through which the piece of design is stored by various designers allows for easy accessibility of the piece of work. Furthermore the design work can be accessed after a very long period of time through the digital platform of storage (Watkins & Angelina 2007).
Designers engage in the use of electronic materials as a form of digital media technology. Being one of the pioneers of early design work my partner Andy is in great support of the use of electronic materials in the various design works. He attributes the use of electronic materials in designing as being necessitated by the transformation in terms of technology in relation to designing. Many consumers of various designs prefer the use of modern technology of the different pieces of design work from varied designers. In addition the use of electronic materials has benefits such as the fact that the design work can be transmitted to various networks throughout the world. These forms of networks include the internet that has transformed the designing industry to a large extent. The audience of various design works is able to view various electronic designs from various designers through the use of the internet that has transformed the society into a global village (Yau, 1993).
Digital media technology also incorporates the use of social media as a tool that involves interactive form of dialogue between designers as well as between designers and their prospective audiences/customers. Therefore the interactive form of dialogue allows for generation and exchange of content that permits for organization among the various designers. Social media as a digital media technology plays an important role due to the fact that it engages the audiences to various performance and designs through the process of matching various designs according to the preferences of various individuals. In addition, digital production of various designs allows designers to bypass traditional platform through the process of placing their work or designs directly through the online technology method. Hence the use of digital media technology tools is critical for organization and an easier method that is mainly utilized by various designers in reaching the public directly while displaying their artistic designs. Thus, social media as a tool plays an important role as it enables the various designers to reach out to their audiences while forming a collection of niche markets. In addition, the use of the social media allows designers to reach a targeted population while showcasing their various designs. In this case the designers are able to match their work in relation to the specific interests of the consumers (Ackoff, 1974).
The main areas noted to require more research are the credibility of sources used by the media and the fact that the usage of the internet to relay information has allowed users to be able to give feedback that can be read by others. This may be personal opinions of other people on the various designs that are presented by designers. It is important for appropriate censoring of what other people may post or comment to avoid conflicts and comments that promote racism, injustice, war, crime or religious conflicts. Secondly, sources of information that is posted on personal blogs or opinion pages should be credible to ensure that the use of digital platforms is of benefit internationally. These two factors must be looked into to ensure that the digital revolution will be of common good for both the designers and the consumers at local and international levels. With such factors being put into consideration the use of technology will play an essential role as far as designing is concerned (Ehn, 1988).
Teamwork within the art and design industry plays an important role. Hence as a result a lot of designers are currently engaging in team work so as to create artistic work with the use of media technology and other technological inventions in the modern world. As a form of partnership with my partner Andy Warhol it will be important to note that the process of teamwork in the use of media technology as a tool is effective through such partnerships. This is due to the fact that media technology encompasses various elements in the creation of an artistic piece of design. Hence it involves various designers specializing in a particular in various elements of media technology so as to make an excellent piece of design as an artistic work (Stuckey, 1989).
Within the partnership of myself and Andy the use of social media as an important tool in digital media technology will assist in increasing effectiveness of the art and designs of our work. This is attributed to the fact that social media provides a two way form of communication with our customers. This will enable our design partnership to engage in the process of listening to the public while engaging in the process of gathering various forms of information in relation to our design work. Additionally, this would be essential in terms of making various improvements in regards to our work. Social media tool will therefore assist in monitoring the reputation of our design work while engaging other designers in our work and gathering of feedback from our prospective clients (Hayden, 1995).
The business model has been successful for a long time and can continue to be so if a few improvements are made. This model has been embraced by various designers in a bid to cut costs in the production of designs for consumption by the public. This is achieved through reduction of costs, rationalization of portfolios, increased innovation, delivery of unique content and branding. This can be achieved through embracing many platforms in the digital area that will be used to generate revenues through advertisements and classifieds which cover production costs for the print media. The company will meet all target markets, old and young, through this method. In addition to that, the digital world is dynamic and most media companies should focus on user-driven content in order to continuously meet financial targets. It is important for the companies to innovate alternative products on the internet that will increase revenue generated. The digital media platform has therefore been an important aspect in the designing industry. As for the partnership with Andy it will be important to consider the incorporation of the business model through the use of digital media for the purpose of cutting costs on the production of various designs (Hawkes et al 2009, p.5).
Conclusion
It is important to note that to say that the future of various designers lies within the aspect digital revolution particularly digital media technology. This requires that various designers engage in the process of conglomerations in order to look into ways of improving revenue generation on the digital platforms. It is also paramount that policies that will serve public interests in the media are enforced. Media designers should constantly change their business models, products and delivery platforms as the change in the target market is noted. This will help them to grow continuously despite recession in the designing industry. Digital media technology plays an essential role in design work. The digital media technology helps in assisting designers to improve the quality of their artistic designs while at the same time reaching to the prospective clients through the use of media technology tools.
