The most common abbreviation used for operating system is either OS or O/S, which means the infrastructure software module or segment of a personal computing system. It is mainly responsible for organizing, managing, sharing and coordination of computer activities that make use of the limited resources available to the computing system. Operating System works as the main host, supervisor or organizer of all the internal activities and operations of applications running on the computer. (Tipton, Micki Krause; p1266, 2007) When current computing systems are incompetent of providing adequate computing power for solving the occurring increased tasks, while buying new and more powerful paraphernalia is economically impracticable and inadequate, then the only chance left for the company is to divert it operations towards parallel computing systems.
According to the parallel computer systems' definition, it combines different computational procedures between several interconnected computers for giving better performance and results. This technology was brought to the world and technical sector in the early 1960s and then it was more filtered and modernized according to the technical innovations. Modern computing systems have seen grand expansion and innovations with the passage of time. Time for transactions have been reduced that have ultimately made human life easier in order when it comes to tackle with financial, business analysis, science, engineering, social life, and technical-oriented sectors.
Parallel computers are such example of innovations and advancements in the technological sector and are more analogous to our own biological computer. Parallel computing systems are usually best solutions for facing challenging issues on the frontiers of science, finance, business analysis and engineering. It provides largest collection of algorithms and integrated system optimized for modern multiprocessor machines, grids, supercomputers, and clusters. Modern parallel computing systems, servers, and workstations are of great powerful strength and they are also formidable fast working devices.
They have become extremely popular and extraordinarily applicable due to the reason that a supercomputer can be manufactured by making use of off-the-shelf software and hardware. The techniques of parallel computer systems indicate that even a reasonably supported attacker can launch extremely effective and low-tech brute-force attacks in sufficient time interval against medium to high value ciphertext (Dongarra, Laforenza, Orlando; p1, 2003). IBM Roadrunner TOP 500 Supercomputer (Ruggieri, p270, 2008) The IBM Roadrunner cluster from the Los Alamos National Laboratory has been named as the fastest supercomputer at present as compared to all other supercomputers in the world.
This model of supercomputer was officially launched in the year 2008 and the cluster of this supercomputer makes use of IBM Cell
