Market economy and water prolusion in land fills do don't present a clear relationship as such. Landfills are created as a means of disposing garbage from consumer goods in advanced economies. It is an alternative to recycling where the garbage is burred where the land fill is full. Landfills bring about adverse effects on the economy especially in the local environment since it discourages investment where there is pollution. Market economy is not free as the governments are constantly interfering with any operations that involve exploitation of the landfills.
Water pollution in landfills is the common problem that has seen some solutions which are intended to bring about creation of wealth or creation of jobs from these sites (Buron 2002). There are a number of features of landfills that are potential aspects of free economy operations and they include; ground water and aquifers leakage; soil fill; off-gassing; and harbouring of diseases vectors (Nair 1993). Most land fills in developed countries are operated with an aim of minimizing such features by government interference and local authorities charge so much to users of landfills, some landfills are profit oriented and are publicly funded, American Chemical Society (2006).
In terms of improving market economies, landfill is good sources of useful commodities and services, the most evident is energy. The garbage disposed at the landfills has the potential to decompose and as it decomposes, methane gas is produced, American Chemical Society (2006). Methane is a natural gas which is energy rich and can be exploited by gas companies and be sold since its market is always available for domestic users and industrial or commercial use (Collins 2005). There is regulation by some states to collect methane gas as a safety requirement in landfill sites hence this makes it even easier by use of government support.
Polluted water from land fills has been regarded as useless and filthy in many areas hence denying some exploiters a chance to reuse the water. This polluted from water from landfills can be very useful in economic operations and can earn the state a lot of revenue as it creates employment opportunities on the other hand, The quantity and nutrients in the polluted water can be used as striking substitutes to be used in aquaculture and agriculture (Diwakar & Nagarai 2002). The types of waste water vary in landfills depending on the source, urine and faeces can be recycled as organic nutrients whereas waste water from industries may contain chemical that are very dangerous to the environment and human health.
Urine and faeces can be used in making fertilizers for specific plants (Diwakar & Nagarai 2002). Other chemicals can be tapped into coagulation tanks where they can be used as minerals for aquaculture practises. Possible Solutions to Water Pollution in LandfillsThere are several alternative of disposing waste material other than landfill program and they include recycling, incineration, and decomposing. Preventing pollution is the most effective method of solving water pollutions problems in the first place.
Manufacturing can be done with recycled materials that contain less water pollution chemical rather than the use of virgin manufacturing materials (Murty et al 1999). This cuts down major water pollutants like nitrogen, sulphur and other chemicals. Landfills are main
