From the stomach, food pieces are mixed with powerful enzymes and acid that continually breaks it down turning it to paste. Using enzymes from the liver and the pancreas, food paste from the stomach is further broken down in the duodenum while jejunum and ileum begin nutrients absorption into the blood vessels for circulation in the body.
