This changed to 37.6 persons for every one thousand people. This indicates that there is decline of population. The general fertility rate increased from 5911300 to 6833600 from 2005 to 2015. This indicates that the total number of live births for women aged 15-49 years increased. This means that fertility of women in this category increased over the ten years period.

The total fertility rate also indicates that it increased. This means that the average number of children that were born per female increased. It also means that there was better child care hence this increased the life survival rate of children. On the other hand, the dependency ratio in Nigeria is very high as estimated in question seven. There was 87 percent dependency in 2005; this did not change in 2015. The rate remained the same. This means that out of 100 people, 87 seven of them are dependents. The amount of people of non-working age is very high as compared to those of working age. This means that the Nigerian economy has a greater burden in supporting the aging population. The dependent population put additional demands on education services, health services, and care.

The median age of the Nigerian population is in the range of 10-14 years. This is common for both females and persons as well as for 2005 and 2015 as well. Additionally, the sex ratio for the population aged 65 years and above indicates that there are more females than males. This means that life expectancy for females is higher than for men. Essentially, there are different demographic characteristics of Nigeria between 2005 and 2015 as estimated and discussed above. They help to understand the Nigerian population better.
